hey guys, this is going to be ultra ghetto so i apologize in advance. I took off the engine cover and unscrewed the plug things that are in the second and forth holes....how do I remove the 1st and 3rd plugs? I tried tugging but I dont want to pull too hard if that's not the way to get them off. Also how do I get the spark plugs out of there once I get the holes uncapped? I could really use a how-to =(

You need a spark plug socket (5/8") with a nice long extension and a wrench to unbolt the coil packs from cylinders 2 and 4. The spark plug socket has a rubber insert to hold the plug while you pull it out of the cylinder head. If you use a regular deep socket, this will be very difficult.

anyone know if the plugs you buy directly from your dealership are gapped properly? I bought them straight from mazda?

i'd be better if you check or gap them yourself. sometimes when assholes put them on the shelf and dropped them, they kinda get screwed. To be safe, GAP THEM !

I second that...most of the time the so called "pre-gapped" plugs need to be regapped to proper spec.

yep, any greasemonkey would do a simple test.
hey..those stunna working at autozone doesnt care about your spark plugs, it's not going in his car.

use a feeder gauge instead of corn type, or better yet, wire guage

i always uses my deep socket for my plugs, those snap on tool kit come with a rubber insert. if your spark plug socket doenst have the rubber insert, just stick the stock wire/coil pack and it would tuck it and you can take it out.

dont forget to put anti-serze or a drop of motoroil in the thread everytime you put in the plug, torque to proper twice and it's good to go.

I would check the check every oil change, regap the plugs to ensure to have the right gap.
