if your warranty is still in tact, call your dealer. if not, try some wrecking yards, ebay, classifieds, etc. and remember that if you can't find an mp3 tranny, the same tranny was used in all 2.0 liter protege and protege5 applications. (well, except the automatics.)

you prbably don't need a whole tranny. You should be able to rebuild the one you have...possibly just by replacing the broken shift fork. In this case get the shift forks from the Mazdaspeed. They are stronger than the regular ones found in the MP3/Pro5 trannys.

how much is the fork, where can i get it and whats the difference? i feel that our transmission is really weak for some reason it just seems feeble like its ready to snap in half at any given time

You can get the fork from your dealer. The fork from the Mazdaspeed is shot peened if I remember correctly. That makes it a little less prone to failure. I'll see if I can get you a good price on it when my dealer opens this morning.

a mazda rep told me that the forks are weak for shifting into 2nd on a MSP.

The only fork that is "stronger" form the MSP tranny is the clutch release fork. That's it...

CLUTCH RELEASE FORK!!

If you go to a junkyard and find any G15M-R transmission you'll be fine...
