View Full Version : MP5 headlights on Pro LX?
Will a 2003 MP5 Protege headligts fit the 2003 Pro LX? Im thinking they will but need your opinion. I believe if they do then there is a wire harness rewiring involved. Oh yea also thinking to get an MP5 front bumber for my LX. Thanks in advance fellas

Yes, they'll fit no problem. The wiring, however, is a different story. You must cut the existing lamp socket off and splice two new sockets in for the lamps (bulbs) that are used in the P5 (separating the high and low beams while sharing the same ground).
Ok. Sounds good bro. But wont that be too much current(power) going through one wire towards 2 bulbs? Is there a chance it will melt? (talking about power wire not ground)

Without looking at the wire, I couldn't tell you. If I remember, when I take my lunch break, I'll take a look and let you know.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I forgot just as I said i would, heh.
Anyway, on my P5, both high beams have one 16AWG wire and one 18AWG wire. Both low beams have 18AWG wire for both leads. I'd assume your LX has something similar.
For a 55W lamp @ 12V, current draw will be about 4.5A.
You can find the current draw by dividing the lamp power by the voltage (12V).
I breifly searched for a listing of wire size vs current limitations at 12Vs, but didn't find anything.
Anyway, I don't think you'll have any problem splicing in the P5 sockets. Just splice in equal or larger size wire.
K bro thanks alot, but my 1st mod will be engine mounts, because I just HATE the wheel hop on my car. Well thanks but I will take into considiration to get the P5 lights
