Just spoke to HDA, and they can get us 10 blue cans and 5 red cans. No chrome. If interested let me know, price will depend on how many people we can get for this one. Dont even need to bother emailing me, I will come.. only thing I am worried about is how hot the coolant will be by the time i get to your house. How much would it be to replace all of the coolant with the same stuff that came with the car? I put in some Prestone or whatever when I put the braided sleeve on and I dont like the fact that I mixed and matched. I would also like to get some Redline transmission fluid in but I wont force you to help me unless you want to lol.

just help you out man, here is my blue one, compared to laser mica blue. i think its a dead match. the hardest part of the install is just figuring out where to put it. i put it on the fender since i have an ebay intake. probably the same hole vic has his in now. and clink the link if you want high res pics.

I really dont know. Probably if use the bottom fitting. Since the power steering is also feed through the bottom. I will like to use one too.

yeah i've just had a lookie at the stock power steering tank - it might work. the hole at the bottom is definately required and i cant see why one of the top inlets cant be used with the other blocked.

The problem are the brokers cost and not as much as duties, sorry for the mix up.

Fedex cost can go up as high as 40 :eek:
and USPS/Canada Post have a flat charge of 5$

Plus if you declare the item as a replacement under warranty, then N/C:D

They basically replace the stock coolant catch can that is rather ugly. If you look at the pics of it installed and then compare it to your car you will know what I mean. They dont do anything performance wise, they are strictly for looks.

Hey, Welcome to the boards :D

These cans are used to replace the white/clear container that is used for radiator overflow coolant. Just check out the pictures on the first page of this thread and you'll see that the coolant overflow bottle has been replaced with one of the pretty ones. :)

It wont matter, I think it still the same, according to FedEx website. I'am still waiting for willkill and Wyldone4 to answer their emails. I think if you want to change the color, it needs to be stripped, prepped and painted. Dont know how much, but for chrome I can estimate around $30.

Since these are oil catch cans, they need a "straw" to suck the coolant back into the radiator when needed. Or I can put a fitting in the bottom so it will work just like the factory. I can do what ever you guys like.

I got all the cans today, I'am preparing myself (actually my P5) for the Houston show this weekend. I will try to put all the fittings tonight and package them and try to ship them tomorrow.

PS-I updated my can with the bottom fitting, ran it today and works flawlesly. I like it a lot more since I know is the way is suppose to work.

I just got back from Victors house and we (more like just him) installed my coolant catch can with the bottom fitting. He took pics of it along the way so he will prob post those when hes done with the important things.

Two quick notes to everyone that has this installed and that is going to install it. Check all of the fittings and tighten them. My can was leaking on the sides where that little level check tube is. Victor is going to tighten all of the ones he is about to ship out but those that already have it need to check theirs.

Second thing, DO NOT fill up the catch can more than half or a little more than half. I drove the hour long drive home and checked the can afterwards. We had filled the can a little more than half full and drained the rest, when I checked it after driving, the level was at almost full and I am glad we didnt put the rest of the coolant in.

Those of you that got the chrome ones, feel lucky, it is a little easier to install and is more rare than the rest.

Ok guys, here is the install pics. Unfortunately this will only help those of you with an Injen intake. I need to find a Protege without one in order to figure out a good mounting place. But it will give you the general idea of what it takes to install it. It took me around 40 minutes (playing around, and following my daughter thru the house) to do it. But is really not that hard, we just took are sweet time.

Ok guys, good news and bad news.

The good ones: All the domestic shipping is done. So if you paid Paypal, and live in the 50 United States, your cans should arrive shortly.

The bad news: I have been pretty busy and FedEx wanted me to sign 17 pages of declaration for the Canadian orders, so could not ship those. I ran out of time today and tomorrow I will be driving to Houston, so wont have time this weekend to ship. I really apologize. That includes the Australian order (twilight).

Also, I made all the efforts to tighten the fittings and use teflon tape, I just found my can was leaking tonight after I tighten it. I think that after it heats up for the first time it lets some out, and needs to be re-tighten, so dont forget this. I want everyone to be satisfied with their cans. After I tighten and drove the crap out of my P5 tonight, it was dry. And I think ELEmentals still dry. Also I send you the original bottom cap, in case you want to get rid of the fitting and go with the "straw" (I would have to mail you the straw).

I really appreciate you guys paying so fast, it wasnt easy to come out with $675 dollars for the cans, and hope you guys would come through. SO I REALLY APPRECIATE IT, oh and my wife too, since she help me with the money, hehehe.

Ok, raptor and rubicon, your cans left today via USPS (no tracking available outside the USA), willkill and NCMP3 yours went FedEx and will email your tracking numbers. Mikehavo, sent email confirming your address.

Regarding the leaking, it looks like you just have to tighten the bottom fitting a little after it gets hot the first time. I drove the crap out of my car in Houston, and no leak. I think on ELE, we left the teflon tape to far up the threads, so it needed to be re-taped. If the problem persists, I can send you the "straw" in order to use the original bottom cap.

okay, less than 30 minutes later, it has been installed. thanks vic for the extra screws and fastners! big BIG help. one last concern. the clear blue hose u sent, i have it running from the bottom of the catch can to the radiator. it is touching the crome sleeve kit on the big radiator hose from the motor to the radiator. will it melt the hose because of the heat?

You got me, I just read the first, and was like huh! BUt yeah it could had happened, I removed the cans to tighten the top fittings and put the gasket and also to put the bottom fitting. The hose shouldnt have a problem, it will get hot, but not melting hot. Look at it periodically to check. It will really suck if it melts.

Theres a slight leak on the L fitting but I am going to address that this weekend with some more teflon. Hopefully I will change out those clear hoses to clear red ones too

hmm well last night i tightened it like u told me to and no leaks :).. but...
the bottom of the clear tube (where u can see the level of fluid) where the gold connector goes in the can, there is a deep scratch on there. i didnt do that nor did i not notice it until now hehe. i think when they were trying to tighten the gold connector, they hit the can by accident and made a deep scratch. nothing noticable when u look at it in the engine, but u can see it when u remove it. ill try post a pic later. just wanted to let u know :) - chris

Everyone make sure you use teflon and cover the threads closest to the bend on the L fitting. When Vic and I first installed my can the teflon wasnt covering all the way down to the the side with the bend and it was slowly leaking. I just reinstalled it this weekend and everything is perfect. I am getting some red silicon hose to go with my red/chrome theme. Anyone know of a good location to buy some? Home Depot didnt have any in red but autozone had at kit with different sizes for way too much money.

hey pirana..... just a quick question..... if i use the bottom fitting to go to the radiator... the top 2 fitting are for what???? just overflow? if so i really dont need them both right? would it still work right if i capped one of them off and used the other one for overflow??? just curious. thanks again.. it looks great and i will install it when i feel better

these are the steps I took to install mine. THIS IS WITH THE STRAY IN THE CAN

Let engine cool overnight....of course

Get under the radiator and drain about 2 ounces of fluid out into a plastic jug or cup.

Remove the plastic catch container and drop it down low to allow all the fluid in the tube to drain into the container.

remove the tube from the radiator. get a rag under there incase any fluid comes out.

Take your container over to the catch can and use the existing tube to drain into the new. I filled the new can up from the bottom screw and put my fingers over the top two. :p

put the screw back on. Now your can measure out the existing drain tube and shorten it to your desired legth. Or you can use the blue one that Pirana provided. slide a couple hose clams on for security and put the new can in.

Like before, it took too long for us to set it up and the cans where gone in an instant. what we need is to set up a list of the people who wants them ahead of time. Last time all they had were chrome ones. We need at least 10 people for the $45 price. So if you want to start another thread and get people signed up thats cool.
