Hey guys,

I have seen different vids of peoples MSP, and they all sound AWESOME. The girl that bought Joes.(Sorry don't know name) has an awesome vid. The turbo sounds very loud. Like a wooshing sound, it sounds awesome.

However, in my car it is a different sound. The turbo makes NO SOUND. Seriously, at 4.5k rpm, when the turbo should spool, and make the awesome wooshing sound, it just squeals like a pig. But it still boosts at 6 psi which is stock.

Some thoughts:
1.) I figure that since I don't have a TT, that the outer fan of the turbo doesn't work, hence no swooshing.
2.)Something else?

Any ideas on how to get the sound back? I also have a CAI and a boost gauge.

Did you ever have any sound?
My turbo has never been really loud either. I wouldn't necessarily think that is a bad thing. Maybe looking into getting an exhaust would change the sound!

Having a TT or not doesn't mean you would have a louder or quieter turbo.

The swooshing sound is the sound of the compressor spooling up.

I didn't hear mine until after it was broken in. I think it depends on a case by case thing. Also it's very quiet if you have a stock piping in the car. Hope this help.

Eric-BlackMSP do you feel the car boosting? I hear mine just find and it is stock (so far ;) ) lot of peoples sound better cause they have and open air intake. that will make a diff. other than that you might have turbo problems.

a TT as in a turbo timer? that only does something when the car is off. open element filter will make it sound louder but will lose power. you need to put an open element filter on there and relocate the filter to somewhere that isn't right in front of the fan, then you'll hear it spool.

unless i am missunerstanding you sould not lose any power. i guess what i am saying is a short ram air or CAI will make it louder and will give you power gains.

ITs a trade off. With a short ram you lower the restriction of air into the car, but you suck in hotter air so you take in more, less powerful air.
So it depends on does enough extra air enter the engine to offset the higher temp hence less dense air.
Get that? :D

My car runs super quiet until you really set her loose.

THe turbo is in-audible unless I am acceleration atleast moderately. But when I do go hard I hear it start to scream and whine around 4k and up until I get a pleasing phiiissshhh when I shift.

My car is stock btw.

i mean just putting an open element filter on the maf. this will cause you to lose power. short ram or cold air is different and will give you power.

short ram and hard pipes for an intercooler will make it louder but thats just a dumb thing to try and do, make your car louder i mean, its all about performance not sound.
