Dr.Sound

hehe, title says it all

i know the first two cars to be suggested are Evo and STi.....mind u i'm a student and i could barely make car payments and insurance on my MSP (bless her soul).

so just throw them at me!

i have a few ideas, but i might be forgetting something that i might regret later on :D

thanks

Depends on the cash situation. You have alot of good options Me personally I would get something used. Like a Rx-7 or Supra or soemthing like that.

srt-4. please no flames. or maybe a used wrx. If you wanna wait you could maybe get that ion redline thing but that is kinda making me sick thinking and looking at it. Or another msp?

I like the used rx-7 idea. Or maybe you want to get a new msp? You already have the aftermarket parts for it.

another MSP sounds good, but i would ONLY buy orange, and most of them are now gone.

i was thinking maybe a 1st gen RX-7.......but i need something with more than 2 seats.

cash is low, that's why imma finance. unless it's like 2k, then i can fork it out.

1989 Geo Tracker.... j/k

If you have the money, why not go for a used badass car like a Supra or Rx-7 like NCMP3 suggested. My friend just got a 95 Integra GSR for a little over 5, I wouldnt mind that car.

Buy a regular protege and turbo it. Faster than the MSP.

Why not consider something with a BP engine. You said no on 2 seats (rules out the Miata), so why not maybe an (91-96) Escort GT or (90-94) Protege LX. The BP engine is awsome, especially when it comes to building them. Hell, they were designed to be turboed. :D

is that the focus RS...nice machine but $30,000 for 220hp:rolleyes:...i believe those are the stats i've read...anywhooz you can get a scoobie rex @ carsdirect.com for like $21500 (2003) actually $21463...just looked it up. Gotta luv the MSP though:cool:

Simple man, I pay $250/month with only $2000 out of pocket at signing for my P5. It may not have the MSP handling, stereo or turbo but it hadles great in my opinoin and I compare it to my MP3. The stereo is still doing me ok and I am more picky then anyone else here about that stuff. The lack of power isn't a big deal unless I get back in the MP3-T.

The one i'm thinking of is the AWD 2.0 turbocharged to 220hp...can't remember what magazine....me thinks Automobile Mag..was a possibility of bringin it to the states next year (though it really doesn't help your i-need-a-car-like yesterday-situation)

yeah, i was reading a newspaper today (while sitting at DMV for 3 1/2 hours waiting to get my temporary driver's license) and 6 got the highest crash rating out of cars in its class in a 5 mile bumper test.

but...........P5 and 6 are too big for me.
for some reason i like smaller cars........a regular protege is cool........i might test drive one tomorrow.

I know I'm about a 7 hour drive from you, but if you're really interested in a Spicy Orange MSP, they've got one in Stockton(where I got mine) for $18,333. I don't know if you can get them cheaper than that...They've also got a black on left, and a Titanium and a Yellow as well. Full price on those i believe though.
As far as a WRX, insurance should be about the same as a MSP, and I almost bought one for under $20,000 right before I got the MSP. A 2 year old WRX should cost less then the MSP for sure by now.

if you're tight on money do not buy a used rx7

1st and 2nd gen rx7's aren't all that fast stock but can be VERY fast.... however that takes a lot of time, work, and money.

3rd gen rx7's run 13's stock and you can likely find one for $15k that is decent....... but your yearly maintenance is going to be quite high.

It's pretty safe to say if you're looking for a daily driver you might wanna think twice about buying an rx7.

Or buy a 3rd gen for fun and a beat up corsica to drive around daily :)

Outside that..... maybe buy a used WRX or hell..... buy a used MSP :)

1993 Civic DX(EG)...put in a B18c1, rebuild the engine and what not...a friend of myne had that and it made 320WHP at 12psi...if u cranked the boost to 30psi it whould be close to 600whp... but u have to put 20k into engine work to have that work out.
but its fun to EAT corvetts in a civic and have the corvet driver be imbaresed...

320WHP on 91 octane...can go to 18psi on pump gas..
320WHP+ 1800lb car= some major ASS kicking...also the insurance on a 1993 civic is dirt cheap

or get a 1997 M3

just pick up a used MSP off ebay for like 15-17k. Otherwise head to your local dodge dealer and pickup a shiny new SRT-4 and be done with it. Your grandma will love the chiropractic like adjustments associated with boost onset and you won't have to worry about your buddies messing up the power windows in the rear.

alexlitov
09-09-2003, 01:49 AM
You can buy a used MSP for under 18k including tax. You just need to look hard enough to find one. Don't get a car that will cost twice as much to maintain that the original price of it.

You can get a P5 for around $13500 these days. That plus $2000 for the suspension and $4000 for the turbo kit,(I'm rounding up), and you have a mighty quick car for under 20,000 bucks.

1st generation rx-7 with a hunk-o-american V8 in it. There's a guy that sells conversion kits (on the web)-- from what he says its mostly a drop in affair.

His rational for removing the wankel is that there are more good RX-7 bodies than good wankels so why not drop in a V8...

if your gonna get a MSP, make sure you get either the orange again or the black. getting the 2003.5 MSP is like downgrading after having the orange one. the saturn is fast, but it's still a saturn. the srt-4, wrx and evo are nice, but getting more and more common. a supre or rx-7 would be badass. that's the best choice so far. just stay away from the hondas please.

old, cheap, and Japanese........easy to maintain and cheap to own and fix. The last thing you want is a car payment or debt when you're a college student. If a car payment is more than 10% of your monthly income then you can't afford it. The words "can barely afford" should never precede "car payment". Too many kids get over their head buying new cars.

Boy, I'd like to see that because Nissan doesn't even have them on the website www.nissanusa.com The Z33 model 350Z only comes with a naturally aspirated engine the VQ35DE

3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine
287 hp @ 6,200 rpm
274 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm
Emissions — LEV
Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control
System (CVTCS)
High-flow intake system
Nissan Direct Ignition System
Platinum-tipped spark plugs
Electronic drive-by-wire throttle

No mention of a turbo. And oh yeah, I have a 350Z on order so if there was a turbo model, I would have ordered it :)

Depends on whether you get new or used. An RX7 is nice, but try financing one, it's a personal loan with high interest, so you would have to pay all out or get something a bank would consider a car loan. SRT4 has the most bang for your buck as far as new cars are concerned. Also, someone mentioned modifying an ES. Not a bad idea, but a lot of money spent on mods to get it up to or faster than a MSP!:( What about the Mazda3 when it comes out? You'd be one of the 1st, but you probably need something really soon do to no wheels.

You have to remember that he should still have his MSP... A quick Engine swap and wheels (if they are still good) You got yourself a MSP. Depending on wether the shocks are blown or not he could use the Suspension from that car. Replacing the ES sway bars will be nice. Taking the LSD out of the transmission would be very nice as well. You could even take out the full interior and swap it over. STereo System... Victor if you are in any way considering of buying say.. a used Protege ES talk to me and I will see what I can do about the motor swap and how much it will cost.

I got my MSP because I totaled my '96 MX-6 (rest in peace) this summer. They're not too expensive and I personally like the body design better than the probe. If you want a car that handles, the 4cylinder with a manual is great because of the weight distribution. If you want straight line acceleration, the V-6 is the way to go, but it's a little nose heavy.

I can also vouch for the safety systems in the MX-6. The seatbelts work great and the airbags do deploy when they are supposed to.

Oh... and insurance isn't too bad either.

Good luck
