OK, I have been a big Mazda fan since my 1st car (95 626), but my car wasn't a big fan of running & ended up dying. Fast forward to the present & my third car, a 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege. It's like a dream come true. Anyway, enough of that sappy personal intro...onto the real story.

Since I got my car about a week ago, I have started to park way in the back of the parking lot at work in the hope of avoiding contact with other cars. Tonight, we had a business sorority/fraternity there & the parking lot was packed. After one of my deliveries, I moved my car to the only area that was still empty. So then when I go to leave work, I come out & what do I see?...another car with Mazdaspeed on it. This is no ordinary car, nor is it another MSP like mine. It's a 1st gen RX-7 with a blueprinted GTU (13B) engine in it. I snagged some pics of it next to mine & then had a 15 minute conversation with the owner about my car & his. He was amazed that everything on my car was stock & that I got it for $18,900. I was amazed to hear that with the mods he had on before, he ran low 12s & high 11s!!! It turns out, he is a buddy of one of my friends & he is selling the car. I don't know all the details, but I do know that the car needs some work, that it doesn't have ALL of the mods it had before, & that he is asking $1900. He also told me that it has a glass moonroof whereas they usually have some sort of fiberglass roof panel. It's a nice purple color & has Mazda wheels (the looked like 15s :p) & a nice body kit. It was so much fun to see the evolution of Mazdaspeed (he had Mazdaspeed & Racing Beat parts too :D)!

Anyway, my camera isn't great, but hopefully the pics will come out decent. When I get them developed, I will have the pics of my car too. If anyone is interested in the car, I have his phone #, so you can just send me a PM. I personally wish I had an extra 5 grand or so because I'm sure this would be a sick project car.

Oh yeah, & that RX-7...it's HELLA LOUD!

I've respected 1stgen RX7's ever since they came out at $9990... and then a friend and I were eating at one of those outside restaurants with a porch, a guy takes his little, relatively cheap RX7 away from the light and bigtime squawks 'em into 2nd gear - remember this was what, 1984? A sub 10-sec 0-60 was hot then... nice car. With Mazdaspeed mods it should be hella project...
