Hey all, not even a week old and i am just LOVING my mazdaspeed protege...so much so, that i refuse to tell people it is a protege until they have seen (and felt) it.

I got the titanium, and only mod so far is the super white (blue tint) headlight replacement and it looks SUPER at night!

I want to mod it with a few bolt ons (i have lots of experience with turbo charged 2.0L as i used to race eclipses, talons and even the galant VR-4, a car tha really reminds me of this mazda).

My question to everyone who has bought this car new AND has a manufactures warranty, what mods have you been able to do that are either A. not warranty-breaking or B. are easy enough to conceal OR put up an argument with the dealership about.

Thanks for the help in advance, reading all of your posts have been very informational thus far and i assume it will continue to do so as well!

Thanks again!

look at my sig for my mods..........i've been to the dealer with them 3 times.
one of the times they had to replace the intercooler pipe.

my dealer is cool

some might not be that forgiving, but a boost gauge and turbo timer should not be a problem.
if u decide to get a boost controller (manual), it's easy to put on and off..........max 10 min. and makes it very hard for dealer to find out that u had one.

get a mbc like joep's. very simple and you can easilly go back to stock and to top it off youll have a pretty quick car.

Thanks for everyones responses, and thanks for welcoming me, I am in the Orlando area, so if anyone knows any "cool" dealers that would be great.

Hey what is the highest safe boost you can raise on the car with all things being stock (except for air filter which is replaced with open canister K&N).

Thanks again guys!

i would say stay between 10-12 psi
safe enough for u to enjoy your car at a greated level :D

but u might want to go buy some colder spark plugs:
NGK BKR7E, stock #6097
1 heat range colder and copper electrode
(cooler at the tip than platinum).

this is to prevent detination

thanks to all my homie g skillets or whatever too!

Appreciate the welcome, another question is i looked at that post about the warranty stuff (sema.org) and is that something that actually holds weight (legal or otherwise) when dealing with dealers who want to void warranties based on performance modz?

Thanks again for the tips, hope i am not getting annoying yet!

That holds very much weight when dealing with lame dealers.

Enjoy the car, just don't blow it up and you'll be okay. :D
