guys.. i think my syncros are messed up...
SYMPTOMS: 3 gear grind during hard acceleration, 1st gear all the way up to 5k, 2nd gear all the way up to 5k once i'm on the clutch i pop it into 3rd and i hear a lil "CUK KA"
then when i step on the clutch again and put it back into gear i don't hear it anymore.

i don't hear any grinding in 3rd when i'm driving normal (normal is 2.5k - 3.5) and there's nothing i bring it up to 4k and go through my gears and there's nothing. i thikn the grinding is during hard acceleration.

anyone experience this? i'm really scurred =( thanks.

i dunno what speed i'm switching at but i suppose i'm switchin around 25-30 on first gear and 50-55 on second to third. after i hear the grind in my 3rd gear i stop gassing it, i feel like i'm fuckin it up

as for mods. no major mods. regular ebay intake for sound and a 2.25 catback with apexi N1.. i have 20k miles on the car, should i take it back to the dealer?? thanks

yep you should although they will hesitate and probably tell you you're driving it too hard.

if your engine mounts are toast, it can be part of the problem

Wow. I don't think you can shift that late from first to second. I know in third gear you can go to almost 80 :-)

at 28 mph in first, the rpm's are around 6750'ish

at 57 mph in second, the rpm's are around 6750'ish

at 80 mph in third, it is at 6500 k

i'm not sure if its the engine mounts or not but i'll definitely take it back to the dealer. this started happening after i told the dealer to change my tranny fluid, so i'll just tell them that this grinding started to happen after my transmission fluid service. also, do u know what the warranttee is for the transmission? cuz i currently have 20k miles on my car. i just hit the 20k marker couple days ago =D

Theres no point in going to 6700.....6000 is max for this car's power. After that, it's just noise.

yea i dont' i only go up to 5krpm and that's where 2nd to 3rd scratches

Then bring it in for sure, thats not normal...mine shifts at 5k from 2nd to 3rd very smoothly.

You don't have to worry about revving these engines once you past 1000km. They love it! As long as you don't go in the red the engine will just sing!

Double clutch until you can take it in, but it does sound like some bad synchros.

Does anyone know if regular shifting at lower RPM's will still be bad for the gears? I took mine in for the exact same problem and they werent able to reproduce the problem until I picked it up friday night. When I drive like a grandmother and dont let it get past 4.5k I dont get that little grinding noise.

The mechanic said its not normal usage of the transmission and they cant warranty any problems past 4.5k RPM wise. I know he was just being lazy and didnt want to work on my tranny, so I am going to call the service manager Monday.

3rd gear on my car was already messed up at 7k miles (before the turbo)...now i hardly use it to let it last longer...just go from 2nd to 4th as the engine is truck like and has lots of low end torque
