I took the whole back section out completely!!! The sub-blew, had the whole thing replaced, & within a week it blew again... My advice, take it out, buy 6x9's, hook them up to the already existing kenwood amp, & buy a box & another amp for the trunk... keep the whole set-up so you can put it back in when ya sell the car.... Easier than the headaches (or lack there of)...

It's because the sub sux.. mine died so I had to take it to the dealer twice to get it fixed..
2 weeks after I got it fixed, the sub blew.

I'm sad to hear that a few members are having troubles with their MSP Sub's. But, it really makes me appreciate my stock MP3 setup

Did you check the gain setting on the amp, mine was turned up very high so I turned it down a bit. I think the dealers forget to check this before they sell the cars...
Tips:
The sub gain should be no more then 3/4 of the way. Actauly 2/3 is to much.
NEVER use the bass adjustment, LEAVE IT AT 0!
The NF is the adjustment for the sub.
If the deck goed out you will need to hold AM down for 3 seonds to reactivate the sub.
As long as the sub is in a sealed up enclosure it will not blow when played properly. THis is not a dual 12" bandpass box, its a single 8. Listen for distortion and back off when you hear it.
DIstortion is what is killing subs.
