Yep...the MSP is done almost entirely in Japan. Right up until they get into port. i believe the Turbos are done stateside, as well as the stereo and spoilers.

Everything to make it a Protege ES" is done in the land of the rising sun. The parts that make it a Mazdaspeed, are done here, just like whats done to the calloway corvettes. :D

But as long as the motors are Mazda motors not Ford motors... Because I know that the Mazda 6 4 cyl. is a Mazda motor and the 6 cyl. is a Ford motor.

The mazda 6s has the 6 and it is a Ford motor but I believe Mazda took it and changed several things before using it.
From Car and Driver:
"Our flagship 6 s's 3.0-liter V-6 was born in America as the Duratec but schooled in Japan, where Mazda ginned up new cylinder heads with continuously variable intake-valve timing and swirl-inducing vanes cast in the intake runners. "

I don't think the clunk is in Japan, that's RacingBeat in CA, if I'm not mistaken... unless RacingBeat's sending the suspension parts to Japan and they're putting it into the MazdaSpeeds in the Hofu Plant...
Oh yes, the 2.0l engines are made in Japan I think. Just look for anystickers that has Japanese print on it in the engine bay...
