Is it possible to add ABS to a 03 Protege5 if it didn't come that way? What besides the fuse will need to be added? Is it something coded into the ECU?

For the ABS to function, you'd need an ABS sensor, and the appropriate wiring, as well as an ABS pump, the new master cylinder hard line, and a new brake booster. Lotsa cash.

Why didn't you just pay the $500 or so dollars to add it and the Side Impact bags? Certainly a hell of a lot cheaper to do it factory than aftermarket.

Perhaps in Canada, not in the US. It's a $500 or so optional accessories that is grouped with the Side Impact Air Bags. A worthy purchase as it (ABS/SIB) saved me $22.10 a month on insurance.

But I wish Canada had the option for the side air bags.
