Waving at other P5ers..

Ever since I got mine a month ago, I notice that each time I pass another P5 going the other way I get waved at. It's nice to have this kinship type of thing. My brother says that fellow Audi drivers do the same. I just thought it was neat..

Yeah my friend has an '86 944 and every porsche we see flashes its lights and honks. Not so with my old neon. Most people just gave you a dirty look if you waved at em.

any time i see any p5 or mazdaspeed, i wave, sometimes also honk the horn. most mazdaspeed owners notice and wave back....1/2 the p5 owners dont notice, 1/4 of them are old people so i dont wave to them.....and like none of them are girls :(
although i saw a nice blonde in a yellow 5 but i was going the other way at the intersection, so no wave. boo
now im just rambling :p

I try to wave or honk, but most of the time they don't see my car. When I'm driving the same direction, I honk as I pass them. When I first got the car, it seemed like all the P5's I saw honked back. Now it's weird...

Can't get no love, man. Least not in my part of MD. I always try to flash lights, wave, whatever and it's usually the same thing: weird looks or old people. BAH! I'll keep waving & flashing though, what the hay... :D

When I had my MGA everyone with MG's would wave..it was just the thing to do...when I drive my miata, and another one passes, they don't even notice me. I would assume that will be the same with my P5..

I have a couple of motorcycles (Sportbike & a Custom).
Whenever I'm on one of the bikes I give the highway hand shake to all motorcycles and most wave back.

The Proteges are a little different. It seems those of us that have pride in our cars & have done or plan to modify our cars in some way are the ones who wave back.

Just Yesterday (8/03/03) I was driving next to, on the left of, on the right of and in front of a dark blue Protege5. I waved from all sides and she just looked ahead. She wouldn't even acknowlwdge that there was a laser blue car just like hers driving circles around her. It's not like my car blends in just click on the www button below. I haven't seen another laser blue P5 in northern AZ yet.

All the other cars around me noticed what I was doing. Some would just point at the lady in the other P5 and then mock being stuck up by sticking their nose in the air. Then give me the thumbs up and go on their way.

I thought about rollong down the window and having my wife get her attention Marti Gras style, but that would have caused other accidents in busy traffic.(boobs)

Then about a mile down the road there was a modded black P5 going in the opposite direction. Get this she waved at me so I waved back.

So maybe my theory has some truth to it.

I see a fair amount of P5s in the area, have yet to see a MSP. I wave, beep, flash or give the 'thumbs up' out the window. I only do it if it's another guy or girl within 15 years or so of age. I don't expect grandmom to get excited when I give her the flashers.

In FL, I always looked over and smiled.. yanno - that "we're in the mix" smile. LOL

But now that I'm in OK, I never see 'em (MP5s)!!!! grrr..

in ottawa people don't seem to care...thats too bad it would be really cool. They would proabably just ignore me.

When i went to my hometown i was the first one to have a laser blue P5 so i got people asking questions about it at gas stations, etc.

Wrangler owners and Corvette owners are notorious for this. My brother gets a wave from every single wrangler he passes. And my dad always gets waves in his vette.
