Captain KRM P5

While on vacation in Colorado, I drove my P5 up to Flyin' Miata for a fuel pump install and some tuning. Here are some pics / info of the little field trip up there;
Interstate 70 between Winter Park and Grand Junction. Had about 250 miles of this and 150 miles of less interesting stuff. Lots of nice turns, dips and hills.

Ken Hill's own personal Miata. 1.6 liters, 250 horsepower to the wheels from a 12 psi turbo system. Stock everything except rods. Not bad since the early Miata barely broke 100 hp at the crank.

Prototype Miata supercharger system. The intercooler is built-in to the manifold. Very early stages.

The car dynoed right in the range of thier test car; an increase of 70 horsepower and 81 pound feet of torque to the wheels at a mild 6 psi :). With the inline fuel pump and 93 octane gas, I should be able to safely run 8 psi without blowing anything up (this time :) )and without any additional piggyback/fuel management/etc. Once I upgrade the motor mounts, I may gradually turn up the boost between 6 and 8 to see how it runs. To be perfectly honest however, 6 psi is more than enough speed, so I may just leave it alone. Ken stated that they were working on an ignition and fuel control setup that would readily allow 12 psi on stock internals. Knowing what they are capable with Miatas, I am looking forward to thier progress.
