View Full Version : hey guys any thoughts on a good muffler?

im lookin for one with a 3"inlet. i would like it to be as quiet as possible, i realize that with a 3" exhausts its going to be somewhat louder than stock but i would like to keep it in a sleeper look and sound "but shhh my speed is slow"
any suggestions on which one to go with?

so ,.. uh, youre just looking to go from stock piping to a muffler with a 3" outlet basically? +15WHP!

well i assume you are going to go with a 3" catback. just remember for now, you'll have to get the piping custom done. the hks hi-power is quieter than most exhausts. racingbeat/mazdaspeed are quiet as well and you'll prolly retain more of a stock look however i don't think they make them in 3" size. but in any case, you could always put a silencer in the muffler and/or put a resonator on. if you don't want loud, you'll want to stay away from: apexi n1, blitz nurspec, skunk2 megapower, rs-r, and tanabe. those tend to be on the louder side, especially the tanabe.

hks hi power huh thanks ill look into that.
and yes im going for the turbo back, a muffler shop here that i know will do it for 250 bucks mandrel bent, i cant pass up that deal.

damn $250 for a 3" turboback mandrel bent? is it all stainless steel or is he using aluminized steel? hey you're in houston too :) where are you going to? maybe i'll pay this place a visit once i save up enough money :D

haha cool man, let me know when you come in. i will let you know once i have it put on, i just need to find a muffler that fits my likes.

yeah same problem here...you can see my list of choices thus far. though i'm leaning towards the hks hi-power. it gives good hp and torque gains and it's quiet.....yeah my gf and my parents don't like loud....incidentally i live in west west houston, out past katy. usually home on the weekends from college...like now :p just one question though...is it full stainless steel? cause i don't wanna go with aluminized steel.
