Today I just installed the new injen cold air intake and the stock blow off valve sounds like a bunch of birds inside my intake. The intake sound became alot louder with the open air filter and I want the sound to sound more like a real turbo. I am wanting to know which blowoff valve is the best for the money? I want to spend like $100-$150 or less for a new blow off valve.

More like a real turbo?? YOU HAVE A REAL TURBO. Use the search button on the top of the screen, there must be 20 different threads about the bypass valve(we don't hava a blow off valve). The problem is that we have a mass airflow sensor. We cannot safely "blow off" without stalling the car. You CAN upgrade the bypass valve, but it won't sound exactly like a BOV...

blow off valves are pointless on our car.... we have an rx7 bypass.. it works fine and will work fine for whatever tuning you will do to your car... however, if you want to spend $200+ for a cool noise,, feel free..

I love the stock bov. Sounds like compressor surge. :p Everyone and their mom has the "psshhh bov" (Turbo XS, Greddy Type-S, etc), it's becoming played out. Our stock bov sounds more like something you'd hear on a rally car.

Yes you can install it in the MSP...but it will stall if you drive it like a numbskull (ie rev hard then shift to neut. just to blow off)...it's not easy to install either. You have to replace a section of I/C pipe, add & weld a flange, then mount the BOV.

I'm not sure about, you guys, but the turkey sound is ok for me. I'm trying to see if I can get a different BPV, though...one from a wee-dub...Still haven't heard back from the manufacturers of any of the 3 I'm looking at(forge, stratmosphere -adjustable, bailey)...hopefully I will, soon....They cost less to install in our cars, are quieter than a BOV, and != rice.

whats the difference between a bypass valve and a blowoff valve?

I'll put this fire out:

BPV = Bypass valve or Diverter Valve (VW); it sends excess boost pressure from when you throttle off back to the intake so engine doesn't run rich.

BOV = Blow-off Valve; sends excess boost directly to atmosphere

JDMSam...I have no idea why your doesn't stall...perhaps you can inform us. I know you have yours adjusted so that it only blows under load, right? Is that why?

Anywho...I talked to a wee-dub mech yesterday, and I shouldn't have any problem with any of the DV/BPVs I'm looking at...and the most expensive one is only 180$ and it's screw-turn adjustable. So there's another option for anyone looking.
