Twin Intercooled?

Anyone consider a twin intercooler setup? Like the Audi TT? I was thinking abotu getting two small ICs and using them in the side of the front as a twin intercooled method. Any ideas? Is it good or bad?

subaruwrx - this isn't a good idea as you drop boost pressure from 1 I/C to the next. The only reason why Audi has this from factory is that it's a cheap solution to their space requirement problem.

You could try it, but the results won't be as ideal as getting a properly designed FMIC set-up.

Couldnt the t25 push enough boost to handle the extra IC? I dont know... I am considering it as a cheap alternative to FMIC.

its not a matter of pushing enough boost, its pushing that boost effectively.
remember psi on one turbo to the next is a way different,
its all depends on efficiency, and CFM.

subaruwrx - each or has a different pressure drop. When you add more piping between each one, pressure drop happens as well. There's not enough "puff" to do it efficiently. You're just going to blow your turbo if it's overstressed.

Twin intercoolers would most likely fall in the same category as a twin turbo setup on a 4 cylider. Both sound like a good idea in theory, however, in the end the negatives almost outweigh the positives to a point where it's not worth the trouble.

Several MX-6 owners have been known to take two stock intercoolers, cut the ends off and weld them together, doubling the size of the stock unit. People that have done this are also running larger turbos though.
