I am trying to determine how many people buy Amsoil products and through what channels. I'd like to set-up a online dealership that would donate all profits (beyond overhead) to this forum.
Any thoughts on this? I am not sure even enough people use Amsoil to make this worthwhile...

what does Amsoil makes?

Oils, lubricants (for cars) - basically. At least that is all I can see that they have that is worthwhile.
They have some really good synthetic oils.

AMSOIL 2000 all the way baby! That stuff is tight! You don't have to change it for a full year!

Well, depends on your mileage. I'd do an oil analysis if you get past 7,000 miles or so, just to be safe.
But do you use it? Where do you buy it? This would be an easy way to support this site w/o actually paying more ;P

Depends on your definition of "much".
Mobil 1 is a good oil. From what I understand, Amsoil allows for longer drain intervals (though not as long as Amsoil itself states - 25,000 miles), and has a slightly better additive package. It's all a question of degrees.
I, for example, have used Amsoil in the past but currently have Mobil 1 in both my cars. For the next oil change, however, I am switching to Amsoil.
I suggest going to the forums at http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php. There are some in-depth discussion in oil analysis and additive packages.

Filters are suppossed to be quite good - better for longer intervals than others. If you are doing just 3,000 mile oil change intervals, I'd still just go with an OEM Mazda one or PureOne or the like.
I am not sure how pricing works with the dealer. I have sent for a package to see what kind of discounts we could do. Remember profit goes to support this board, if I can go through with it.

I think the "dealership" costs $30 per year - so we would need to recoup that money. In addition, it may require some web-site space. Maybe someone would donate some space to store the "store". Other than that, all money would go to this forum.

Just as a note, Fram filters suck. THey are about the worst on the market for their filtering ability.

Some Fram's aren't too bad. Much of the info about filters have changed - Fram's have stopped with the cardboard endcaps. And they do flow well.
But, I wouldn't buy one. There are better / cheaper ones available. If you shop at Walmart, I'd rather buy a $2 SuperTech filter....

I buy the series 2000 0-30w oil. It is thinner than what everyone else uses but it works great. It is recommended to change every 35,000 miles or each year. For turbo charged, about half that. I looked up the link...http://www.amsoil.com/products/tso.html
I am not a dealer but I switched when a friend of mine at school was telling me that it was the only oil he and his dad use. Each of their cars has over 250,000 and 160,000 miles without any engine probs...I switched over in my 96' Probe and my mpg went from 23.8 to 24.9. I guess that makes since because it is a thinner oil, thus less resistance... my $.02

Oh, I have no idea how much better their filters are. Of course, Amsoil recommends to use them and change them every 6 months.

Would you consider buying from me to support this site?

You bet! As long as you won't charge more than their website...

I would like to have a final price of what it would cost...
Could this be bought one set at a time, like 4 quarts+1 filter, or is it sold as a case of oil, and filters as you need them?

Can be bought a quart (or even gallon) at a time. 1 gallon = 4 quarts and is cheaper anyways. And filters can be bought. Go to the Amsoil site and look there for prices. I am guessing the prices will be about 10% cheaper

Okay...give me a few days to get the dealership stuff, and authorized vendor status.
Also, shipping can be by any method (I live close to an Amsoil distro center).

My dad paid to be a "dealer" and now buys AMSOIL in bulk for everyone we know. I get it for about what Mobil 1 (my former oil) costs per quart. And with a doubled drain interval, it is a hell of a deal.
And yes, AMSOIL does allow for a much longer drain interval, however fliters must be changed just as regularly.
We do filter every 7k (3K for the bimmer bikes), and oil every 12-15k (7 for the bikes). I personally used to change teh mobil every 3k in the P5, but have now moved out to 10K, trying to get myself to do 12.
Bimmer forums love AMSOIL, and folks overseas and in CAN have been using extended-drain oils for quite some time. Not sure why they havent caught on here.
Excellent oils.
