aw ight peeps, its my turn to thrill and entertain you with a wildly amusing but true tale:
The event transpired yesterday evening when I was on my way home from work. I was about a 1/4 mile away from my turn off, when I approached a redlight. The road is 3 lanes wide and I found myself in the middle lane. An older beat up protege to my right and some other PoS to my left no prob. As I got closer to the light, a mustang GT pulled in behind me. It was a early 90's, even still I knew my rice burner was no comp for him. My palms starting sweating and my body was getting hotter. The light turned green, I tried my best to get a good hole-shot but knew no matter how good it was, it wouldn't be good enough. In first took it up to 6K, then slammed into second, he's still on my ass, so I get over to the right, my turn is coming up. He looked like he was gonna pass me on the left, but when I changed lanes, he stayed in the middle lane and passed me. I looked over as he did, then he did something that surprised me, he got over to the right lane and proceeded to take my exit!! Thinking to myself, turn, turn, and when he did, I knew I had him. He may have the speed, but I have the suspension and he got a taste of it too. The turnoff consists of a moderate S-curve, first sweeping right then left then right again. Although I was unable to pass due to guardrails on both sides, I was right on his tail through the entire turn off, 75-80 mph. We merged into traffice, where I was able to pull next to him and shake my head "NO", he flicked me off as I drove away. The funny thing is as I pulled away, heart beating like Lars was playing it. I saw his f'ed up front end, yellow primer and all. Yeah you got the power but I got the suspension. peace!

the power we have going through turns and coming out never ceases to amaze me...i've lost quite a few domestics coming out of turns...they just cant handle like the mp3 does. this car rocks.
Tires make a BIG difference. with my winter rims I've skidded already once in a turn that I shouldn't have with the ZRs.. and no, there was no ice/snow on the ground it was above 0 dry pavement. left a nice skid mark though thank god nobody was around and that light pole wasn't 3 meters further infront ;)

Absolutely Enry....altho handling-wise I still feel more confident and at ease in turns than any other car I've every driven, right now with my winter tires on it's just not a comparison to when I was rollin' on the Dunlops.

I almost lost it yesterday going up a curved ramp - the car behind me freaked out. Still can't get used to the winter tires ... really looking forward to summer again!

wildman i love the story!!!!!!!! as people here no i cant stand ford or chevy sports cars........I had a similiar run in with a ss camaro which by far is twice is fast as the mp3.......but going to school from my house on the highway i was exiting onto another highway........I pulled right behind him and it is two lanes i dropped to third and busted out to the right lane, he stepped on it also.....he fished tailed and i blew right by him....he later pulled up next to me on a straight away, mile down the road with a surprised look on his face........I just laughed and said all you got is straight line....no match for a real race.........So I hope all you mustang and camaro drivers like that story because it is true!!!!!!late:eek:

:D Last week-end I raced a lot of imports. But nobody wanted to race a V.W Jetta with a stock turbo, grantted because his car weighed 2600 LBS. Our car weighs about 3600 LBS. So I was giving him about a thousand pound advantage. I told him that I had a 55 shot of ZEX. So we lined up at the next light, and a 94 "Rustang" GT. My mistake was using NOS from the start, and not being able to put down any trackion till mid second gear. The Rustang, and Jetta caught traction before the MP-3 did. So bassically I started at there rear bumper, and stayed at the rear bumper all the way to 100 MPH. I think that was cool to see an MP-3 keep up with a Rustang GT and a Jetta w\ turbo.
Until Next race Mike

Let me think, you live you life a 1/4 mile of a time right:rolleyes:
If you wanna race me lets go to where mine and you car excels which is a twisted mountian road. Do you still think you can win with you NAWWSSS (gimmie a break)
Can't use NAWWS on twisties cuase you'll die. You car was never meant for straight line acceration and neither was mine but I'll run ya up to 140, and still smoke ya

Hey Enry!!or any other moderator...is it possible for one of you guys to go O.J. on this charachter and slice him? If he was funny, I'd at least enjoy reading his crap. I think most will agree, TROLL!!!
Nix 'im, 86 'im, wrap his head in with a tire iron, I don't care, just keep him from annoying me with his 14 yr old babbling. Thanks!;)
Oh yeah, and if you hadn't figured it out, Hooptie, I'm talking about you.

wildman, you know that did not really happen. That mustang would have handed you your arse on a plate. Suspension is important but you got to have at least some power to back it up.

It's still funny to find that muscle car owners find it hard to believe that 4 bangers can hang with them. I laugh everytime someone comes in here defending the cause of the muscle car!..:D

You have neons on your car so your opinion does not count. :D

Here comes $0.02 more! I think I am qualified to give my opinion here. I own a Mustang GT and an MP3. Both are 2001 models. I have also been racing (street, drag and autocross) for 21 years. My first opinion and the one that I think is most relevant here is the DRIVER matters! I race with a gentleman who runs an 89 Mustang in autocross in the stock class. The only change he has made are soft compound tires and had his camber reset to –3 degrees. This man wins the class on a regular basis with times that beat most of the cars in all but the modified classes. He has been racing for about 40+ years now.
I will not argue in most circumstances my MP3 will out handle my Mustang, like wildman said taking an exit ramp at 75-80… if your ramps are like ours in PA, the guy in the Mustang was at his limit. I tried to keep up with a friend on a ramp…he has a Corvette…at 70 I was at the limit of adhesion. Now let me make the same modifications to my Mustang as what is done on my MP3, this would help unbelievably. I can’t wait to try and keep up this year in the Mazda.
Mikesmazda155…I will bet that that 94 Mustang was an automatic and at best it ran high 15’s when it was in its prime. They are pigs with the automatic. Kudos for making more horsepower with your MP3…that’s what it is all about. Vegas…he fishtailed and you blew right by him…probably a kid in dad’s car and you blew by him because he was cleaning his shorts out! Again, driver experience matters. Don’t bash the muscle cars because they are good in straight-line performance, which is what they were built for. Bash the people who try to drive them and can’t. It’s not the car’s fault people are stupid.
Just remember one thing…building fast cars, racing them in a safe environment, learning and having fun is what this sport is all about.:D
