View Full Version : A question of MAZDASPEED Color.....
How many Owners of either the Spicy Orange Mica or Yellow are over 35 years old?
I know of only one who has orange.
He'll post in a bit for sure...

i love the orange.. i am 20, but orange has always been my favorite color.. my mom just bought a bright yellow turbo beetle, and my bro ordered a blue mica mazda 6.. guess we're a bright color family.
depends on the mood somedays i wish i had the black.. for a more sleeperish look, but then agian.. i love the attention i get as well.

I'm 32...the orange looks SOOO good in the sunlight...the metal flake is awesome. For me the black is just too easily mistaken for a regular protege with a wing (see the fake MSP thread). Besides, if you're over 35, the orange is good for picking up teenage chicks at the Tasty Freeze :)

I am 42, single, male, and really love the yellow color. I considered the orange last year, but read on the web that yellow was coming, so I decided to wait. But friends my age think yellow is a silly color for someone as old as me. They say the car is for the young 20s crowd.
I have since lost interest in the MSP only due to the turbo engine and all the problems it is causing. If the engine was say a 2.4L 175 HP like the one in the Nissan Sentra SER, or the 165 hp in the Subura Impreza (both non-turbo), then I would likely buy it. Now I am leaning toward a base orange mini cooper (orange is a new color for 2004) See photo attached.
Other cars I am considering are the Infiniti G35 coupe, and Acura TSX.
I live in Las Vegas, and I just noticed the Mazda dealer here has over 15 Mazda Speeds in stock now! WOW! They must not be selling well. They used to only have one or two at a time.

I'm only 20, but the guy that bought the Orange MSP at the dealership I went to was in his late 50's. He bought it for himself by the way.

See, whn the f*cks on the west coast decided to have that dock strike, they delayed shipment of the MSPs. That strike affected ALL businesses!
Ignorant people who had theirs on order and got too impatient/tried to blame Mazda for the delay, cancelled their orders, thus leaving the stock on dealership showrooms. :( poor 'speeds...

The best? It's all in the eyes of the beholder. At 49; If I had to choose between the new MAZDASPEED 'Yellow' and the Orange. I would have to choose Yellow.
What the hell!! Look how good Yellow looks on a Ferrari!!! But; if I had a Ferrari - it would have to be Red!! (thumb)

At 42, I should also note that my Ivy League educated lady friend (age 40) says she would not be caught dead in a yellow MSP. And that it was more suited for trolling for community college chicks. LOL.

i think the orange is great b/c of the metal flakes.. when the sun hits it, it's just outstanding. it's also a color that isn't found on most vehicles.. almost every car comes in yellow now, and look at the lancers.. almost all of them are yellow.. the orange is the color that gets ppl to walk up to you and ask if you had it painted that color and what color is it.. it's great.

Here's my personal feelings...
the name is mazdaSPEED...In other words, we're all probably driving a little faster than normal. Why would I want to be noticed while breaking the speed limit? Hence, black was my color of choice...plus, you get that sick 455 reflection when it's all clean and waxed. Sometimes I wish I had the orange just to stand out more, but then I realize that I have 7500 miles and not a speeding ticket yet! Not that I'm really going that much faster...but fast enough to get nailed by the piggly-wigglies around here. I'm only 22, but believe you me, I thought about all of this before I bought the car. Still...orange looks sweet. :D

the orange is great, and the speed travels at the same speed everyone else does, but that can be quite fast around here. one problem w/ the orange, people like to play...a white eagle talon or whatever wanted something w/ me, he was driving normal then i came around, and a white honda w/ altezzas, an exhaust, and the stock steel rims got all rowdy when i came buy, then he went into my lane and "slammed the gas"...right, so yeah, people tend to not leave you alone.

spicyray--- i can't agree with you more.. i get soo many ppl pulling next to me trying to mess around.. i've had hondas, toyotas, and even had a corvette.. it seems like they see the orange and they think it's automaticly fiesty.. kinda cool, but it gets old after a while. but no matter how old it gets, it's always going to be funny to see some honda floor it at a stop light and watch it put-put it's way to speed. lol

I agree, I LOVE the orange, but I am going for the titanium gray in order to be a little more subtle. Besides, I'm not a big fan of getting lots of attention... I buy my cars for ME, and I'm selfish!! Can't stand having people around my car when it's in a parking lot. Some of these fools even TOUCH other people's cars!!!!

I don't know how many of you have seen the 2003.5 Yellow in person but it's very dull/washed out compared to the yellow MP3's. Very not appealing if you see the two yellows side to side. Can't figure why Mazda would have done that.

dpmmsp is over 35 and has a spicey orange. Its his 3rd orange car I believe he told me?
I'm 25 and love the orange. Why drive a car with a boring colour?
I love the blue-aqua-seafoam green colour changing Alfa Romeo's in Europe. I'd pay a lot for that colour on my car.
