you can't expect to bolt on parts and just run. tuning is a big part of modifying your car, esp a turbo car. if i bolted on a Spool Stage 3 kit on my DX and ran 10psi without tuning, i'd be buying another engine....
my point is that you need to be aware of the fact that new parts require tuning, and you shouldn't give up on your car. go get it tuned and tell me if you still hate it.

and at that it takes a SHITLOAD of tuning! but if you r stuck on it get an s2000! 9k redline is addicting! but seriously dude look into standalone for a setup like that!

Uh... OrangeMSP is no newbie to turning, guys. I have his camcorder full of racing videos to prove it.
On to the topic.. What car would you get?

moving from an MSP to an STi..........that's a big leap. You'll lose a lot of money in the process......
if it was my money i would get an RX-8. Just my 2 cents.

I think many people get the MSP with the mind set that they'll mod it to death into something much faster.......and that fucks up reliability, warranties, etc......IMHO there's not another car under $30k that's worth a shit besides the Mini S. If you want more speed without reliability problems than go with the STI...but you won't be under $30k.... but man, that's an awesome car....you also migh be able to squeeze a 350z in at about $30k.....very awesome car too but WWWAAAYYYY cramped inside compared to the MSP....but the engine is sweeeeeeet.

awe yes, the VQ35DE is a nice engine........
My dad has a 350Z and it is nice, lots of leg room actually. He got it for 29,xxx something. It's torque heaven!

Well, I'd have a tough time deciding between an STI and a 350Z. The 350Z has a better engine and better looks, but the STI would be slightly more "practical" and equally exciting. Personally I also like the Mustang Mach1 -- 27k MSRP, super heavy duty clutch and incredible seats. And lets face it - there's nothing as great as the sound a V8.
Mustang GT would be what I would buy. However...the suspension is ancient, itsy bitsy speedo & tach, and just not that exciting unless you spend your time at the drag strip (ho hum).
I have said it before, and I will say it again; for my money; my MAZDASPEED is the answer. I am probably the oldest MAZDASPEED owner here; and I wake up every day knowing I made the right choice. With 8,000 miles now, running about 10psi boost, and the sweet 'new' sound with the HSM Axle-Back exhaust, my MAZDASPEED is just the way I like it. AWESOME!!!
In the future, I will be addressing the intake, but no hurry (K&N is fine for now). After that; my mods are done, most likely.
What a great car!!
If I were spending close to $30,000; I might consider the RX-8. Over $30,000 - the 350Z (Track Edition).

nnnnnnooooooooooooo, stay wit Mazda, complete reliability. But i gotta admit, the 350z is one sweet ass car. But i believe if you tuned your car, and set it up properly, you will be equally as impressed wit your MSP than the 350z or STI.
PS, stay away from american cars, they suck, especially ford. I'm just glad the didn't get a huge say in the set up of the MSP, though they're probably responsibly for the clunk and hesitation...hehehe, i really hate american cars. Sorry if you like them, but it's my personal opinion. This is not meant as a flame.

Well i have been thinkin about gettin rid of my MSP for a lil bit now. The hesitation is just killin me. I dont know if the CA Lemon Law would even work in this case. Ive looked/test drove many other cars and compared them to my MSP. Aesthically speaking, the MSP owns pretty much all the other small sedans ive seen for under $30k, except maybe the Lexus IS300. I drove a WRX a few times and really enjoyed the boost from the turbo, i love the way it drives, but i dont like the front end of the car. I think im gonna stick with the MSP after all and turn up the boost to what it should be set at (9-10psi), and hope mazda comes out with a fix for our ECU soon.

I think you will take such a hit on the Mazda I asked my dealer about trading up to an R-8 he said the speed is wprth about 14000.00 on trade in, Of course all dealers suck. WRX STI is swet and so is the EVO. dealers are gouging people right now. I would wait one year and tune your car and let the market settle a little. Actually I think the regular WRX engine is better then the STI. I think it is stronger and with a few bolt ons you would have a Nice engine

No good sedans for under 30k?
I can think of 3
Dodge SRT-4 - 225FWHP
Mitsu Evo - 280HP
STI - 300HP
The SRT-4 is the best bang for your buck with an MSRP of 19,995 and ET of 13.8 in the 1/4

SURE it has potential.. but shit.. mustangs are girl cars....

Damn,
I'll buy your car man. Or trade you for my sweet sweet mp3.
I agree completely. Mustangs are chick cars. I can't stand them. Worse damn seats I've ever sat in too for a "sports car"
Overall, it's just cheap cheap cheap. the Mach1 has a nice engine, but that's it.
I would buy an F-body first, but then again, their suspension is so old, and interior looks like crap too.
American=junk. people say They've come along way, but really they are only where they should have been 15 yrs ago. Still crap. Been there done that, never again will I own an american pos.
Hence the reason that this may be my last Mazda

with work Mustangs can be cool but from the start the retired Camaro's and Trans Am's are much better. Of course you can get the Mustang SVT Cobra and it's 390-hp supercharged V-8 :) .
