Before going to the meet in Maryland yesterday I decide to fully clean and wax the ole sled.
Well after going inside and coming back out I restarted the car only to hear a poping noise, and the radio died.
Checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown, ok no biggie I'll just pick one up on the way there.
Then tried to put the car into reverse...and no go. The shifter wasn't disengaging at all. Strange..
So I poped the over ride button and put it in drive.
Hmmm why does the car feel like it has no power.
Drove alittle bit and got it up to 50, which took a LONG time. Now the car was behalfing normally. Then decided to put it into shift mode.
Eh? The car was in third which is fine for that speed but when slowing down and stopping it didn't go out of third.
Yep that radio fuse knocks the automatic into third and keeps it there.
So pulled over and took the AC fuse and put it into the Radio fuse opening. All is fine!
Strange huh, that the radio fuse is related to the shifter.
Gah crazy Mazda's :D
And found what caused it some of the power wire got scrapped off and made contact with the chassis thus blowing the fuse.
Of which those little fuses are a pain to find in my area. Went to pep boys, several gas stations and Target. All of them were sold out or only had the bigger sized fuses.
