saw a several websites that had this kinda mod. looks like you just cut out the honey comb part and stick in a mesh grill you can buy at Home Depot or other hardware stores. looks pretty good but i'd probably personally want those grill holes just slightly bigger then the ones he's using and of course paint it black to blend in better. :D

I've heard of that a few times here...I was assuming that's what it is, but I wanted to make sure.

yeah im not to proud of that grill but it looks better than stock, soon there will be an autoexe grill in its place :D
My Steps To Making Grill:
1. Purchase Stainless Steel gutter gaurd and 1/4 black rubber tubing.
2. Cut gutter gaurd to fit stock grill with mazda emblem removed.
3. Cover edges of gutter gaurd in 1/4 tubing to make ti look finished and keep it fomr screwing the paint.
4. Use Silver Zip ties and attach to stock grill.
Cost: $3.42 and about 30 minutes of my time.
Let me get the camera back form my cousin and i'll take some close ups of the grill.
And the woodgrain shift knob came on it from the guy who had it before me, im notsure what he was thinking. It'll soon have a Carbon Fiber MS Shift KNob in its place from cork sport.
