View Full Version : Weird noise when car's off

Sometimes after I've just driven the car, a 2 or 3 second hissing noise comes from the car every so often when it's off. It sounds like liquid hitting something hot and sizzling. The sound appears whenever, 30 seconds after the car is off, or even 5 minutes later. Can't figure out where it's coming from. Anyone else hear this noise?

I hear that coming from my tail pipe. It's like a ticking sound.
No it's not a bomb either.

I don't hear the bubble part. Do you hear it after driving for a long time?

I thought maybe cause it was so hot there where you live that was the problem.

No ticking or bubbling here. Just sizzling. :p

sizzle is a good word for it. And can't say I drove it hard but it was on for a while, and there is less then 100 kms on it at the time.

I went to my service guy for this he told me that because of the turbo the engine gets hot as hell he said it was just becuase of the massive amounts of heat that and probably because it might have been wet it made sense for me considering new jersey turned into seatle in the last month, but it hasnt happened on a nice dry day so the point is i really dont know either

The water circulating in your motor gets extremely hot just going through the motor, on top of that, it flows through your turbo to cool it as well and when you cut the car off, the water is no longer circulating. It sits right where it is, boiling and hissing untill it cools off enough to stop making that annoying noise. I thought it sounded kinda like a couple of snakes were humping inside my radiator:eek:
