that would be at about 2500 with full boost around 3000 give or take a few....if you don't own the car yet, trust me, you'll feel it

If you are looking to compare it to a supercharged car, the superchargers are usually more responsive, but limited in how far it will go after it gets spooled. A turbo will kick ass on topend more so than a superchager, and is so much easier to upgrad power on.

No. It just takes less than a second on turbo's our size to spool up. After that, it just pulls. Keep in mind I am speaking in general about most smaller-sized turbos.

I heard that the feeling of turbo lag when you step on the gas, and then the car lunges ahead when the turbo gets moving.

In a WRX...yeah...in the MSP, only because of the hesitation that's caused by the ECU running too rich. Other wise, the powerband on the car is really even. The only major problem is the fuel level throughout...but we're working on that.

6.9 stock psi...fairly low. The problem with the fuel levels is that they're to high across the board. The ECU was not properly tuned by Mazda...There is too much fuel being dumped into the system at all times, causing some floundering across almost the entire powerband. It's minor for people who drive like grannies, but for most of us normal drivers it's annoying. It's as simple as an ECU flash, which supposedly MNAO is working on.

Completely different turbos right there not even close!
EVO8 the build up was about the same around 2.5 but it starts building extremely quickly and rapily. Almost no lag noticeable but it is there with all turbo cars unless you have a ALS which no street car does.

I have reading a couple things about the evo and people have been saying that the turbo lag the EVO doesn't start making power until about 2800-3000 rpms.but when starting up a hill with AC the car can feel like a dog, unless you slip the clutch until the car is up to 2000 rpms. This turbo lag only effects 1st gear once cruising the EVO is quick to boost does that happen with the MSP.

ha.. the turbo may "kick in" at 3000 but you wont feel it until 4500... and you all know that is true....

No, the MSP is not a dog until the turbo kicks in. As I posted somewhere else here, it feels like coming on the power band in a normally aspirated engine, except it happens at 2500 RPM or so, instead of at 4500-5500. And with a couple of Joe P's cheap and easy fixes, it pulls hard to redline.

I don't know...I never really feel it unles the car hesitates when I romp on the gas. Then it goes into warp speed...the spool up is too smooth(apart from the stumble) to really notice it. I have felt it swing back to peak boost at 5k while going 100+ on the highway to TN...that was freakin cool. The open loop hits a point arround there where it's the right a/f and just blasts off again...especially if you don't push the throttle to the floor.

You mean boost threshold??? Cuz you're talking about when the turbo kicks in at a certain rpm. Boost lag is the lag of the turbine spoolin up due to the changes in throttle position. Confused about this question
