DUDE
so i let my friend drive the mazdaspeed around the block, in return i got to drive his volvo hahaha anyways he wasnt driving real hard he babied the thing, and when he was back the breaks were smoking, it smelled like solder (sp) from a soldering iron... now im not to sure what caused it but when i was inspecting it it apeared to me that there were parts missing from my rear breaks so that brings me to the next question to make sure things are missing, are our front breaks identical to our rear breaks?
i'll post pics later to show u what mine look like to see if i am missing osmething

that is my assumption, he claims it wasn't but you never know.

even just a little will keep enough pressure to roll and never notice. The e-brake is the only thing that would really cause this to happen to only the rear brakes.

It probably was the ebrake left on.. I did that with my friends spec-v because i was a dumbass.. Yeah that sucked ass because i took off down the highway to see how his car felt like with his new headers.. .. (didnt realize he put it up when i was outside the car) .. They were smoking like hell

Just the rear ones to

got a digi cam? Take a picture. Show us

how about someone else out there with a msp, got a digi cam, run out, take picture of your back brakes so he can compare.

Are you sure it wasn't the clutch you smelled? I notice that our clutches start to smell really fast if you let them slip at all. Smells amazingly similar to smoldering pads... Is your friend an experienced stick-shifter?

Oh yeah.

When you break something, you damage it.

When you brake something, you slow it down or stop it.

I see this mistake all over the place, it just bothers me.

The funky smell can also be the clutch lining. Mine smells bad when I drive it up the car ramps or just seriously abuse the clutch for a minute or two. If you saw smoke, just like everybody else said, E-Brake:mad:
