I am taking my car to the dealership tomorrow to see if the will replace my winshield. It has a huge crack, the crack started on the top. Right in the middle of the winshield, there is no chip or mark showing that some thing hit it. I am the only driver of the car and i have not heard a rock hit my windshield.
The bad thing is that the crack spread in two in a matter of hours and got really huge(over a foot in both directions). I have had chips and cracks before but never like this, I think that I may have a defective glass.
What do you guys think?

Carl-
This issue has come up a ton of times. I'm starting to wonder if they used some really crappy glass.

oh hell yeah, they'll fix that for free no doubt. It might have been slightly fractured when it was put in..
EDIT: Aqua Teen Hunger Force is hilarious!!(thumb)

Summix, just make sure that you check the crack very closely, especially near the top where it started.
Mine cracked exactly 1 month after I bought it and started right in the middle at the very bottom of the windshield. I swore that I didn't remember a rock hitting it (and it cracked while just sitting there in my yard). I couldn't see any stone chip anywhere. When I got it replaced the glass-guy looked it over with me and showed me a VERY tiny spot at the bottom of the crack that made it clear that it actually WAS a stone.
So just make sure you look at the entire crack REALLY closely before you take it in to the dealer. It does kind of seem to me that the windshield cracked awefully easily though (never cracked a windshield in my life prior to this). But maybe it had something to do with hitting so close to the edge of the glass....

This makes me very concerned. I have two tiny, and I mean tiny, stone chips in my windshield and based on this I should expect to be replacing this soon huh?

This is my second mazda car and so far I have seen very poor quality glass. I would expect any little chip to turn in to a huge ass crack

You might be OK Heathen -- I think it was the stone's close proximity to the very edge of the glass that caused mine to crack. It was just a barely visible "chip" mark near the edge and then she cracked. If your marks are somewhere closer to the middle you'll probably be OK.
The same shit happend to me !!! Granted one of the cracks was from a VERY small rock but the other crack just appeared one day... I have 3300 mile on the speed and already need to replace the windshield !!!

You have calmed my nerves momentarily Girth. I travel a lot and don't want to get out to my car 5 hours away from home and find a shattered windshield.
Sumixxman-
Isn't this the second window related problem you've had? I thought somebody busted out your drivers side window too?
Damn, maybe it's time to take off the "two wicked" decal. Maybe it's pissing jealous people off;)
Are you having any other problems with your speed?

These windshields suck BALLS! Mine is cracked like a MOFO!
I have been to fucking cheap/lazy to get it fixed yet.
Yes I love my car but I hate the windshield.
One tiny tiny tiny chip caused a huge crack in about 2 hours time.

My windshild did not give me 2 hrs.....in less than 30 min it spread, I guess the rain and then the hot texas sun did not help.
Oh I went to the dealer today.....No go on the free replacement, they found a tiny tiny crack.... :bs:

Dealer said the same thing to me...the impact point was microscopic. It just seems like the stock windshields are fukin weak. I hope this replacement I had put in is stronger...

I guess i got lucky. Mine truly was stress cracked. No chip at all, the crack came right out from the side under the black trim strip.
