Some of you may know im selling my mp3 due to financial situations. I have been looking at many cars but ive decided what to buy and have it for at least a year or so. im going to be getting a mid 60's - 70's bug and im going to totally rebuild the engine and hopefully i can get it running 13-14 second 1/4 miles. sorry guys and girls that im returning to the dub ways.(ive owned 2 vw's with many mods) but it is the only way i can go for now. its just a matter of how long it will take me to sell my mp3.

I can't believe you are actually thinking of doing that. It might be fast but come on. There are so many other cars out there.

DUDE! Bugs are awsome! Although I would try and find a Carmenghia(sp?) I seen one that had torque thrust style wheels and it looked BADASS! :D Besides it is funny to smoke a riced up honda with a BUG! hehe They pull up thinking they are going to smoke this P.O.S. and then they get Whooped! haha Go find a Carmenghia ;)

the only problem with a ghia is that anything that is designed by karmann doubles in price. so a decent ghia will be about 5 grand. i am also thinking of a old vw bus too. one of my friends dads had an old bus that ran 14.5 in the 1/4 mile. i thought it would be kinda cool to find a white bug and get herbie decals made and make it a 13 second love bug. LOL

remember you are talking about a bug here. This is my opinion but I could never drive one. I don't care how much faster it is than my car. It is an old bug. Good luck with that buddy if you are serious about this.

If your thinking old VW, look into the type 3 body...It's sealed up better than the Bug in front. So, if you need the car to be warm at any point in its life it'll be slightly easier. Plus the Type 3 Squareback is nice alternative to the Bus. Plus the Type 3 is the easiest to lower.

Just my opinion...

No I'm not pissed and I am not mocking you or anything. Sorry if it sounded like that. I was just saying, that I wouldn't drive one. If your dream is to build a sick sleeper, then I don't think there is a better car than the old bugs. I would be humiliated to be beaten by one but then again I just couldn't drive it. If you actually do go through with this, keep us updated. You should carry a camera with you and take pictures of everyone you beat, just to see their faces. That would be so funny :D

i looked into how much new engines would be for the old bugs and their like 2- 4grand. and a deent bug will cost around 2-5 grand. i looked into a lot of things and getting the bug in the condition that i would be happy with would cost me 3-5 times the cost of the origional car. i dont have to cash flow for that.
InitialRES your right there are a lot of cars in my price range that are good starts for a fast as hell car.
a light came on in my head last night and i thought hell why dont i find a 91-95 Civic Hatch and drop a SI or Integra Engine into it. i can get a si vtec with trans, ecu and the whole nine yards without exhaust for 1700. i could have a hell of a fast car for about 4 grand. except i dont know the difficulties of dropping a si engine into an older civic hatch.

If you thinking of buy an EG Civic (92-95) and dropping a b16 or b18 into it. Take a trip up to Payne Tech in Troy, MI. Although I don't like the owner "Tom" at all, his shop does do some decent work. My boy Jason Kuniawski used to work there. If you're going to do a swap, do it right get the EG and grab an ITR motor B18C5.....Good luck. Oh, I agree with InitialRES, a bug just doesn't do it for me, but hey whatever floats your boat.

I need to find some places around here that sell rebuilt or new honda engines. Hakushi where did you get that quote from? thats a pretty damn good deal. the first gen SiR engines had 160 hp right? I know the B16A3 bolts right into the EG civic along with the B18C1.

It's at www.progressiveracing.com (http://www.progressiveracing.com)

It's located in Toronto, so, you'll probably have to get it shipped to you. Not a bad deal though, considering the low Canadian dollar now :)

Only $1300 for the actual motor!
