I was told that I need to adjust the ECU (The computer chip) when I install an intake? Also, fuel nozzle? something about knocking will occur if I don't adjust it, so do I need to adjust fuel nozzle if I install Injen CAI intake?...These just the things my cousin asked me about..
Please help~
Thanks

Oh ya, I read that. Though, it didn't mention anything about reseting ECU and definetly nothing about fuel nozzle. Reason I asked is because I read someone's post about it's better to reset the ECU so the computer can reset the air flow sensor. But, I wasn't sure if it's necessary, so is fuel nozzle (not sure how to adjust it).

if ya want to reset the ecu go ahead....but as for the fuel nozzle...:wtf:.....just install and you should be fine....

I've never heard anything about the fuel nozzle, but to re-set your ECU you just:
-Disconnect the negative battery terminal
-Pump your brakes a couple of times to drain any charge
-Wait 15-20 min
-Reconnect the negative battery terminal
-fire it up and let it idle for 5-10 min.
That's it. :)
The reason that the CEL comes on in the first place is that your MAF(mass air-flow sensor) is reading all kinds of extra air from the new intake, and it "thinks" there's a problem.

Oh, I need to add about the A/F Ratio. He told me since the new intake will be sucking more air in, the A/F ratio won't be balance anymore. Thus, I need to adjust it to balance it. He said something like it'll probably balance the fuel economy with the new intake.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and how I can adjust the A/F ratio?
thanks

Reset the ECU, and the computer does all the adjustments for ya. ;)

Just an FYI, I never reset my puter and it's all good. I've had mine on for a few weeks now and no MIL.

I finally have installed my new black injen CAI.
of course I have reset the ecu like eggynatey told us.
It took me about 2 hours to complete.
I wanted to do it slowly to make sure I was doing right.
I can really feel smoothness while I accelerate~ I can definetely feel little more powerful than before.
I love it so far!!! :)

hey you're from chicago.. aren't you afraid of the snow getting into the intake?

Fuel Nozzle? WHAT THE F?
I'm sorry but never in all my years have I ever heard such BS being split about intakes than on here. Where is everyone getting their info from?
On these cars it is the simpliest mod one can ever do. Take off old piping, then add new piping. No challenge.
ECU reseting is sometimes needed in some cars, and generally it won't hurt anything so good to do.
As far as the CAI sucking in snow:
There is enough blockage from snow being sucked into the CAI unless you happen to park over a huge bank. Water on the other hand is the big worry but just avoid any huge puddles, plus get the adapter piece.
And in a nutshell if it is really coming down then swap the stock airbox back in. Once you've done it should only take 10-15 minutes to do tops.

Bijou, got any pics of that black intake?
Also, thanks! I only wish I had the brain capacity to do something like that myself. I bribed my friend to make it for me. ;)

with all the concerns of snow getting into the cai...and the minimal gains as compared to a short ram intake...why are people still getting them then?
