ok i was just coming home...and i was accelerating mildly coming up the block, and then shifted into neutral to coast up to my house. i could have sworn that my tach needle dropped all the way to zero and some light on the dash came on, then the needle suddenly came back up to normal idle and the light (whatever it was) went away. werid shit, so i tried to recreate whatever i thought happened, but it did not happen again. wtf? wierd ass shit.

it happens in my brothers car
turbo'ed proteges of any kind seem to have this problem
some have fixed it by using a different bypass valve/blowoff valve

Mine did the same thing last night after some hard driveing, except that the idle kept going up and down about 100 rpms. I got out opened the hood to see if any thing was wrong and I just happened to tap on the recirc. valve and it started idleing fine. It's seemed like something was stuck and letting air go into the intake. I'm not sure but I think that the recirc.valve is the culprit. I will be getting a gretty type s for mine to see if it's it for sure

yes, as aric said, this happens in my car. Car and Driver noticed this issue (Called it "gulping" or some shit) with the MSP as well.

my tach dips low (never to zero, and no engine light)...when i'm in neutral and not moving, once in awhile. i think this mainly happens when the K&N sucks in hot air from when the fan's running..

Epik who did the FMIC said this about the POS recirc. valve we have:

Now, on to your questions. The reason that the stock bypass valve caused the car to stall is that it remains open at idle, due to the fact that it is recirculated. As soon as you removed the connecting hose from the stock bypass valve back in to the intake after the MAF there was a huge air leak created. This is not the case with a GReddy Type S BOV as long as it is properly adjusted. The spring in the GReddy bov is much stronger, as well as the fact that it is not designed to remain open, therefore no air leak and no stalling.
It makes sense to me that this stays open. Although my car hasn't stalled yet, it's coughed at lights and hiccups sometimes when idling...
Does anyone else's do this

Sounds like it may be a vac leak. I’ve had several similar problems with my 323GT. I’ve had hoses that weren’t completely tight cause the same symptom. Check all your plumbing hoses, I think that would be a good place to start. As for my SPEED, I now have 2432 miles and no problems. It still stumbles and surges, dam fuel map!

not only does it have to do with the bypass valve but your injectors shut down upon decelleration. they come on again when the ecu "sees" the proper airflow thru the MAF. since you may have a slight leak in the system or turbulence thru the MAF from the recirculated air it will send a false reading sometimes.
hope that helps:D

I'm gonna take mine in to the dealer (after I put the stock airbox back on) and tell them about it this problem..Although mine hasn't stalled yet..it gets close when i'm idling.
I'm pretty much gonna go to the dealer for every little thing now that I think they should fix, since they fucked me on my windshield.
What about the the car pulling to the left...is that something they have to fix under warranty, or will they charge you for alignment work?

For the 1st 12K miles, EVERYTHING should be under warranty (incld. alignment)
When I took mine in, I told them to check it and they said that they won't put it up on the rack unless they SEE the problem (aka drive my damn car).
They drove it and said it was fine. Well if the tires are messed up in a few K miles, then it's on them :D

That sucks man...Whats up w/ these dealers..I don't expect them to have a instant fix for everything but it seems they could try a little harder...

How often should these tires be rotated?...and do your tires have more wear than they should?

unwrittenLaw,
I think they should be rotated every 5 to 6K? I'm not sure of the interval, but it says in the added Firestone/Bridgestone warranty we have (the tires even have their own warranty). I am going to Rotate them at 5K.
And as for the wear: No they are wearing fine (as far as I can see).
I keep the pressure at 32psi all the way around (lately I have been using 33psi at the front just to try it out.. not bad!)
