North American meet in MICHIGAN

Well i have started planning on the meet with my friend and were going to have it in the middle of june... ill give exact dates as soon as i have them. I was wondering if anyone would be against having subaru iclub.com joining us in the meet..... We could have up to 300 people total if we get the word around... Im gonna have a sheet that everyone will post if they will come so i could have an idea of how many will come... Ill keep all of you posted..

You can find orange cones and barrels at any rental place. those places that you pass with moonwalkers and cranes and stuff out in there parking lot. look in you yellow pages for constuction rental.

I was thinking that if anybody out here has any sort of graphic or illustrative abilities to create flyers for the meet. Then they can be uploaded and designated people or anybody can print them and pass them around to the club members as well as leave them on the cars in the shopping malls, performance stores and shops as well as post them on the dealership door. Hows that?

thats a good idea... i know my way around a computer but i have no design abilities.. if anyone wants to volunteer and do this go for it and i could print some off and get the word around fast since i go to a high school that has 2500 people in it. i could post it at my work.(discout tire) and i could post a lot at the campus at UofM.

Here's a decent idea, well I think it might be. Hey mazdamp3_18, since you live in Michigan, I'm sure you know about the Woodward Dream Cruise. I think that would be an excellent time to have a North American Meet. For those of you who may not know what the Dream Cruise is, it's one of, if not the biggest Cruising Event in the Country. If I remember correctly, it's usually scheduled during the last weekend of August, so it would give us plenty of time to plan. Last year was dope. The club I was in Redline Motorsport (http://www.redlinemotorsport.com), had rented a parking lot out. It was fun as hell. I'm not sure of how many of you would be interested in doing it, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. I have pics from last years if anyone wants to see them. They had set a record last year for largest attendance a little over 1.3 Million people..... :eek: :eek: Yup, it will be packed. Although the majority of the crowd there will be domestics and American Muscle, it's still gonna be fun.

I have those abilities BUT I'm also very very busy and I can't guarantee anything. I may be able to...if anyone else has the ability but needs "art direction" I would be glad to assist. :cool:

If you spend 5 minutes a day on it, that would be great. It doesn't have to be museum quality. I think it needs to have protege/mp3/protege5 pictures on it, the fact that its a protege meet and that this is going be a huge and ALL proteges from anywhere in North America are welcome.

BTW, is this just a protege meet or what?
mazdamp3_18: were you able to talk to any hotels in town. we would need at least one big sponsor to help us. Where do you think the meet will be held? parking lot, park, stadium, mall, university, dealership?it be also nice to alert the local food vendors. we don't have to pay them. they will be paid from the food sales, they would just need to show up. i wish i was closer to you. i feel like from down here i can only suggest stuff.
i think the flyers are the biggest point at this time. any dealers that want to get into the act? maybe they can run a couple of lines advertising the meet, when they run their usual ad.

the auto x will be held at the community college parking lot here. the drags will be at a drag strip 20 minutes from here. our show if we want to have one could be held at my high school b.c its right next to UofM's football stadium. our banquet or whatever you want to call it can be held at basically any kind of restraunt you want (ann arbor has everything, OR we could just have a big ass bbq at my house..)
about the hotel, im supposed to get a price on rates tomorrow from holiday inn.

I cant wait, im already drooling over all the UofM mercandise im gonna buy in town when i come...i spent over $100 last time i was there on shirts and jerseys, shoulda spent so much more.
Which hotels you looking at? The motel6 by the highway, just up the main street that runs by the stadium (cant remember the area, has a mcdonalds & chi-chi's right near it) was cheap last time i was there, and clean, and you can park right in front of your room :)

OK ive finally got some dates.... this is NOT final though..... June 21-23 the 21st is on a friday. im getting rates for the hotel for 5 days.. if anyone is going to stay for longer ill get a price for more days... ill be able to get a pretty good price since my girlfriends mom works at the hotel and runs it a lot...

PS... i still want to know if you guys want it JUST to be a mazda meet or if you would want there to be more than just protege's... i will probably be able to get a few rx7's to go also...

PSS ..... what does everyone think about a fee of $25 to enter your car in the auto X.
to cover the cost of everything.. but remember the more people we can get to go ill be able to lower the price considerably...
i still need to get some people from protegeclub.com to go.. NONE of them seem to even be interested in it.. no one has posted a reply to me...and i dont know why.
maybe their not as passionate about their cars as we are....

ok i just recieved an email from the drag strip here and if we want to just rent out the strip the prices are as follows:
$200 per hour up to 15 drivers
16-30 would be $230 per hour
31-45 would be $260 per hour

The hourly rate increases $30 for each group of 15 drivers.

so if we all pitch in a certain amount of money we could save over paying ourselves at i think 20 dollars per person...we could get a lot of runs in 1-2 hours...

let me know what you think about this...

yeah i would love you to come... i agree with you about the only mazda part... But there is a cuple friends of mine that are going to be coming and they dont own mazda's. one kid has a 2001 Neon with a cuple mods.... one has a VW Jetta, and the other kid has a Subaru Legasy with a turbo that will run 14's maybe low 15's ... he is one of 3 in the nation with a turbo in a Legasy... some guys are excited in protege club and here are excited to see his car... I am b/c i havent seen him at the strip and he has put a lot into his car and he is now basing all of his tuning for the meet in june...

PS....Solar get the word around and tell your friends and get a lot of people who have mazda's......

here is a pretty good pic of my mx6 with jspec projector headlights. hehe, soon it wont be red and it will have a body kit on it. also lowered. but it should do fine for a flyer.

and i will post on mx6.com. im sure i can razzle up a lot of ppl to come. :eek: wowowowow, miatas, rx7's, mx6's and mp3's, p5's and 626's? this will be huge...and quite fun!!! :)

yeah the meet is still going on.. the reason for the neons is my bud has a neon and he wanted some neons to come to the meet. so i said ok. what will it hurt to embarrass some neons while were having fun... i wanna prove to those neon guys what our cars can do. and by then my car will also be faster than a 2002 neon r/t. and no matter what they do they cant get better handling than us... this is gonna be fun:D :D :D :D :D :D HA HA HA

well im shooting for june 21-23

on the 21st well all probably meet somewhere and eat somewhere and all of us can meet eachother....

22nd : we will go to milan dragway and have some drags... cost is $20 for unlimited runs....

23rd: we will have an auto x and jsut enjoy ourselves....
im hoping to charge less than $25 for entry into the auto X

hotels are a matter of what everyone wants to sleep at... i never got a reply from anyone so i didnt get any prices.... let me know what hotels you prefer and ill get some group rates....

we could have a turnout of 200+ mazda's
i met a miata driver on sat and he is head of all the miata clubs in michigan.. he told me that if i wanted he could get about 150 miata's to come...
theres a car club from florida that is probably coming up... and some individuals from all over coming.....
i hope you can get all of the toronto protege club to come i really want to meet you guys... i want to meet everyone...

hopefully we will have a cuple magazines coming

the Rally MP3 (Lurch) is going to be coming up...
mazda may have some cars for us to drive....

its going to be a blast.....
i wish everyone could come.... but that is impossible...
but i hope to have one of the largest turn outs for just mazda's ....
i want people to look back in 30 years and be like "damn that was a good time"

the meet in michigan is cancelled now.... just to let everyone know... due to lack of interest from others... i am planning to have meet in tenessee on a bad ass road... and it is now in the center of the US so everyone will be satisfied about the location.. the road there has 315 turns in 11 miles.... its very sweet.... let me know if you would be interested in having a meet in tenessee
