first of all the MSP's or any protege for that matter does not have a MAP sensor . it has a MAF sensor. did you notice that it had more warnings and fine print than specs!:confused:
this is not the way to do it.

the egr boost sensor is nothing more than a fancy name for a MAP sensor... all it does is measure manifold pressure... it exists on the non-turbo pros as well as the msp

from what I heard, the MAF is used below 2000rpm or so and is switched to "standby" backup mode after that and the MAP sensor is used

that would explain some of the voltage range readings from mazda then if this were true. they will give base idle voltage around .6-.8 and 2500 rpm voltage at 1.7-2.0 none after that.

this was intended to say that it was thought that the EGR boost sensor was there only for partial and cruising throttle conditions. if you have some info to add to that i would be appreciative:D

EGR is for partial/cruising conditions... but that has nothing to do with the *EGR boost sensor* ;)

I plan to be here more often... just got a bit tired of the mess on the other board... I just hope people here don't hate on each other as much ;)

Weird...I've never heard of our cars as having a MAP...got any more info?

the MAP sensor is mounted on the passenger side strut tower... it's on the little triangle brass bracket on the strut tower between the firewall (on cars with the factory strut bar)... it has a mitsubishi sticker on it... there's a vacuum hose that runs to the bottom passenger side of the intake manifold where the plenum chamber is

it's kind of hard to get readings from it on some scanners because they see a MAF and automatically not look for a MAP... but using a Ford NGS or WDS scanner it will come up

Well good. I find the other board quite informative, but there's just some kind of stored up anger in a lot of the other members there probably from pissy girlfriends or something; and they just take it out on each other ;). Just be careful with the :rolleyes: smiley here. I notice you use it a lot and it can sometimes convey a bit of cockiness ;).

Anyhow, hope to see some of your valid information around here more often.

guys its not used as a trditional map sensor.
it is used ONLY to trigger the egr operation.
i will post more info on it tommorow because mazda is sending me some info.

That's what I thought, EGR Means Echaust Gas Recirculation and MAP means Manifold Absolute Pressure, so it would make no sense to have an "Exhaust Gas Reciculation Boost Manifold Absolute Pressure" Sensor!!!

I'll borrow the GF's car tomorrow, try out some stuff ;)
