This is a prime reason I want more boost.
Motor Trend June 2003
3 way shootout SVT,MSP,NMT.

"With it's first offering MazdaSpeed has acheived near greatness with the Protege. Its chassis is an inspired peice of work with balance, stiffness, compliance and precision steering. Lapping the streets of Willow Springs the Protege exhibited great poise-neutral and confident in all respects...I could drive it way deeper into the turns and take it much faster through the corners than the Dodge or the Focus.
In fact the Mazda's chassis was so good it had us musing about how killer the Protege would be with just a bit more power."

Yes I want 10lbs,CAI, and a dang way to defeat the governor.
BTW the NMT won the shootout our little beauty which I love dearly was overshadowed by the thrust but at least they gave the MSP the knod for best chassis and it did not seem biased to me. All in all good review allthough this car is 2-10th's slower than the other MSP they tested.

I am shooting for the high to maybe not so high 13 sec 1/4 mile.
And dont start the damn, "It aint a drag car crap." I know this...
But for shit sakes 13's is not drag car fast!

Well........10 psi, the CAI, (even) an exhaust, and defeating the governor will not bring you a 13 second 1/4 mile. No way. I think all you will get out of removing the governor is more top end.

I know the governor is for top speed it would be nice to go to a track in West Texas and pay to top it out for real even if I only get to do it once.

That would be pretty close according to some of the figures passed around there is 500-600 rpm left when the ecu stops the car.
