would it be bad to run your car without the heatsheild??? I am in an argument with a friend about this....he says it ok, I think it is bad.......what do you guys think...

My dealer told me that the lining on the inside of the hood is meant to smother a possible fire. The plastic plugs that hold the lining are supposed to melt and the lining is supposed to drop onto the engine if it gets too hot in there. I wouldn't take the risk that that would happen if you took off the heat shield.

There has to be a purpose to everything that the manufactur installs in your car. It may not seem useful, but it must serve a purpose to some extend. It does get HOT under there after highway drives.

due to the air flow I don't think the highway creates alot of under hood heat
