Here's the official Mazda numbers for the Mazdaspeed Protege Factory manuals:

FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL: 9999-95-017B-03
WIRING DIAGRAMS: 9999-95-019G-03

No pricing yet, as Mazda Customer Service says that it is up to our dealer as to whether or not they will sell us these manuals. I called my dealer and no pricing was found in "the system". I'll let you know what I find out.

Oh, I was told these are the latest regular Protege manuals which include the Mazdaspeed.

Anyone have better pricing?

sounds about right. ive read people paying 150 for the service manual for the mp3

does anyone know how they are bound?

we have mega document scanners at work that automatically make PDF files.

Oh yeah...one more thing. My dealer's parts department says the manuals are on back order. No idea when they become available.

How about the parts info? Is this available? On CD? microfiche? How much?

Thanks for the help, fellow Mazdaspeeders.

Which new one? 2003 Protege? with Mazdaspeed pages? Please check the manual numbers and compare them with the one's I posted in the first post. If you have the latest manual and wiring diagrams, you are gonna be one POPULAR Mazdaspeeder! :D

Here's a thought, although it may or may not work:

The manuals for an MR2 are really expensive as well, if you go through a dealer or otherwise "normal" channel.

However a few people, myself included, thought ahead: what if you skip the middle man?

We found out who the printing/supplying company to Toyota was, and contacted them directly. We were able to get the 3 manual series (Body, Engine & Electrical) for $120 total, including shipping.

If someone can find out who the printing company or supply company is for the Mazda manuals, we can call them and see what they charge. It might be worth the effort...

the service manual is typically meant to be read by service techs, not the average consumer. the owners manual is a different beast altogether, nowhere near as detailed.

someone should really try and set up a group buy for manuals
or someone who works at mazda could check a manual and see what the publishing company was

I ordered both from Dave Wood Mazda (Newmarket Ontario Canada Dealer) received the Wiring Diagram Manual, Workshop Manual is on back order. The part numbers are as you have indicated. Cost $112 cdn for workshop manual, $75 cdn for Wiring Diagrams.

That one doesn't include the MSP, unfortunately. I know this for a fact since I took the chance and bought it.

BUT, I just went to my local Mazda dealership for some parts for my Miata and asked about the manual expecting it to still be "on backorder", but it wasn't! Maybe it's just a fluke, but I put an order in for it and hopefully it will be here within a few weeks.

So run, run to your local dealers and order the great book!

The comment about the manual being put on PDF/CD or whatever and then selling it...Well, there was a guy on another forum for my old car who took the time to put onto CD in PDF format the entire service manual. He sold the disc for $10 and went on a "trust" policy that he would stop making them if he finds out that they were being distibuted by someone either than himself. I think he did very well. Just a thought if anyone wants to make a couple of bucks.

I HAVE THE SERVICE MANUAL. if anyone needs anything i can scan it for them. (i paid much less, through a friend at mazda)
its in a binder (which was sold seperate) and it at least 7 inches thick and heavy as hell. covers protege, protege5 and mazdaspeed models.
this thing has been great!

-christycould you please scan the ecu pin diagram with the translation of what each pin is to for the MSP, i would greatly appreciate if you would send it to me...

I know this thread has not been updated in a while but I'm curious if contacting the printer/publisher for a discount price worked? If someone who has bought the manuals could list the name of the publisher and contact information, I'm sure something could be arranged for a group buy.
Thanks,
Chris
