What kind of trade-in $$ have you guys/gals been offered for your P5??
At the time, how many miles did you have? What kind of Dealer made the offer?? Thanks. :)

What car do you plan on trading it in for?

you could try to use the kbb (http://kbb.com) value to haggle. it'll give you a good estimate too, if you haven't checked already.

I traded my p5 in for a mazdaspeed, but he gave me one hell of a deal, they were only going to give me 17500 for it with 34000kms on it but they gave me exactly what I owed on it 20000 remember this is canadian currency.

So far here's my "considering" list....
I've test driven:
Toyota Tacoma S-Runner
GMC Sierra SL w/5.3 Liter
Toyota Tundra
Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
Corvette Coupe
Mercury Marauder
Miata
Mazda 6, V6 w/sport package
Mustang GT
Vehicles I want to go and test drive soon/when available:
Nissan Maxima SE
Mustang Cobra
VW Golf GTI VR6
RX8
Audi A4
I'm not to sure I am gonna trade though, as I worried about getting the shaft... My car is in perfect shape, and I might just keep it. I'm not really sure as of yet.

Thanks for the suggestion... :)
I tried there, edmunds, nada, and a couple on dealer's home pages... They all vary so much, it's hard to pick one to stick with.

You'll do a lot better trading at a Mazda dealer, or a dealer that has a Mazda as well as other cars. If you can trade it at a place that will sell it on their lot, you get more. If it is going to auction, you will get less.

they offered my good friend (Pro5OnSpeed) $11,000 on his Protege5. It has less than 10,000 miles. He paid $15,000 for it originally. Mazdas tend not to hold resale value as well as other imports I am told.
Fuck resale value - just enjoy the car! Drive it til it dies!
Yep, the cap'n is right. The Protege5 depreciates much faster than most other imports. When I was doing leasing research I found that that the 48 mo. residual on the p5 was 37%!! That means a $17,000 will be worth around $6300 when you take it back. Matrix is 43%, RSX is 46%, and Mini is 52% (making a $17,000 around $8,800 48 mo. down the road). But if it makes you feel better the Vibe is 32%. I don't know how they calculate this, everything I've heard about the Protege line reeks of value and reliablity, I would love to find out though.

if youre gonna go golf, get the r32, theres a thread about it somewhere around here...corvettes not all that practical...the most well rounded on that list are the GTP and A4

I know, I don't wanna be biased... I am 6'4" so the Miata would be a pretty tight fit, and I just liked the looks and the Cobra power plant in the marauder....
I am going back on Saturday to drive a 6-speed Vette, instead of the auto I drove last time...
Supposedly, I have an appt set up at the dodge shop saturday as well, to drive a new reg. cab Hemi powered pickup. :)

Awesome....I'm probably going to test drive one soon too. On the Dodge Truck forums there was one guy the ran a 14.0 1/4 mile bone stock with a truck box in the back...pretty impressive. There is already a swaybar, leaf spring, and front spring kit available for it and Kenne Bell will have a Supercharger with over 500HP ready for it soon. Plus if you get the 3.92 axle for $50 extra, that will help it off the line. Apparently you can only get the 5 speed automatic with the HEMI, because I tried building one on the Dodge site and it says manual is not available with the HEMI. No big deal though with a beast like this.

Damn, I didn't know they were THAT quick... Sheesh. I wish my truck had started out running 14's, or 15's for that matter. lol
Their salesmen here in Jackson suck royally though. I never could decide if they set me up an appt. for a test drive or not.... Oh well, I want a stupid salesman, all the better to scare the hell out of on a test drive. :)

I just did the KBB value. Trade in value is around 14,400. WTF is that? I paid 19700 for her, and thats all she's worth? Shes not even close to 10,000 miles.

Ive tried a couple of times,
My 2002 P5 has 13,000 on it and not one scratch or ding and in great shape....One dealer(multi-import lot) offered 10k and CarMaxx offered 11k. It is optioned with the auto and sunroof.
Decided to drive it till the warranty is over and then get rid of it because I "really" do NOT trust the automatic trans to make it past 40k because of the weird way it acts now.
The residual here in Canada for a P5 is actually like 51%. At the time I got the MP3, the residual on it was higher then the 2000 Civic lease I traded in.
This used to be listed on the mazda.ca web site, but I can't find it anywhere today. I've seen it go up/dwn from 48-51.

KBB is geared for the dealership (not cool)
NADA is geared towards the owner selling the car
KBB is usually always lower than the NADA value
