3.0 or 3.5 Good lord NO. There is no need to go that big. The biggest dia. piping you need to go is 2.5. I just got the JIC and I am pretty sure they have one avail for the MSP. If not the Greddy evo is a good exhaust.
Maybe he meant 2003, or 2003.5?

Ok, I have the JIC Magic Exhuast system too, and it is not only trick, but is very high quaility stuff. Very light compared to stock! Check out my thread with pictures (with a crappy digital camera)here: http://www.protegemp3.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13677&highlight=JIC

yep that is what i ment...3in pipe is huge...lmao...ok..u could always get a coffee can muffler..:D
All are only made for the regular protege but until the first cat is removed a bigger exhuast will do nothing!
Trust me I have a T3 turbo on my MP3 and NO MUFFLER, GOD BORLA LICKS DONKEY NUTZ!
Anyways once that POS fell of the car there were zero gains.
The largest aftermarket exhuast is the JIC at 2.4" the racing beat is 2.375" and the Borla is 2.25"
i have a 2003..black MSP
so they dont make exhausts yet for the MSP?...if so? which companies?..
i'm gonna keep the cat..but with the downpipe and exhaust replaced with freer flowing replacements..itll still make decent power...but removing the cat of course would still help...

ho hum... well injen tryed putting a 3 inch exaust on my car, with no gains and no losses. I think they have given up on that. May i ask what you don't like about the stock MSP exaust?

OK, I will say it again.
There are absolutely NO exhuast for the MSP specificly.
Also replacing the exhuast with more then a 2.25" will do nothing until the first cat is removed! No gains will be seen at all.
Just get one of the regular sedan exhuast as that first cat will not allow any more gains.
its just that i dont like the look of the muffler ...i just dont like the way it angles down like some of those cars that just have a new muffler welded onto the stock piping..thats what it looks like to me..plus the big tip and small muffler make it look like i put a cheapnoise-making tip on it...
i have a heavily modded honda civic as well that im trying to sell since i bought the msp..and it has an evo exhaust and it looks so sweet, the performance is great and it isnt super load like othe exhausts
ne1 know someone who wants to buy it let me know and i'll give them all the details about it!
The muffler isn't small man. Bigger then most the aftermarket ones. Its just oval so it doesn't hang down and make the car look like a, well, riced up civic :D.
The tip is not very larger either. the aftermarket ones are as large or larger.
thats funny cuz i always think that the riced up civics are the ones with the universal mufflers welded on to factory piping and you can tell b/c the tip of the muffler hangs down whereas the back is hanging up where the stock piping is..and it sorta looks like that on the the msp.....i like the evo cuz it is offset so it is mostly hidden but the muffler is angled with the tip up not down like most real exhaust systems are...
im not one of those people who like to rice up a car....im always about performance and a clean look to my car...my civic for example looks very low key..not riced up at all
dont get me wrong..i like the msp..just im not thrilled about the exhaust...
Don't take the Ricing comment personaly I did not intend to mean you were but a big ass circular muffler smacks of Rice. Its just low class to me to have most of the mufler exposed. It should be a reasonably sized tip and thats it! the muffler should not be in any visable.
no i dont mind a small muffler...its just i dont like the design of the on in the msp...it doesnt have to be huge....i just dont like the geometries of it and how its positioned in the car
thats the whole point why i bout the evo for my other car..cuz it hides most of it...i wanted a bareley noticable muffler
the tip on the msp is ok though ...like i said i just dont like the overall design of it thats all..everything on the rest of the msp is great though!!
hey...do you know where i can get headers too...also do they make front mount intercoolers w/piping for the 2003 msp yet?

a Mazdaspeed Protege does not use headers .... It uses a TURBO MANIFOLD . ...
Naturally Aspirated motors use headers...
Why don't you just chill and learn about the car before you jump head over heals changing crap..
The muffler on the car is a decent muffler also

Plus if you get caught racing (But the cop didn't see it) you can say it couldn't have been you cause the exhaust is silent

Yes, Spoolin industries has a full turbo upgrade kit with a new manifold, better turbo and intercooler.
http://www.spool-turbo.com
It removes the first cat though as not many upgrades are going to do anything until it is gone.
