3.7 quarts w/filter
I would have thought you would have a little more with the turbo as the MP3 is also 3.7.

Maybe that's why mine was a little lower when I keep checking it... they factory filled it to 3.7 and never looked back... hm....
I changed my oil using 3.7 quarts w/filter. The level is fine.

It depends on how much more..
once you fill it more than capacity, you'll start to choke the engine, get worse gas mileage and performance, etc.
One time I filled my car a little too much (previous) and then took it in for a 60K service, telling them not to change the oil. They did everything and added BGMOA after I said not to do anything w/that. My car was filled 3/4 a quart more than it should. I felt a loss in acceleration, gas mileage went way down (that's b/c too much oil is getting sloshed around by the cam shafts I think). I drained a little out and she perked up.

Too much oil in the engine and the crankshaft can dip into it and cause it to froth. It's like whipping air into it, which is bad for the oil circulation.
Also, the oil wrapping around the crank causes power loss! Really, I'm not kidding! Probably not going to happen with 300ml too much, but a full quart too much isn't going to do you any good.

Well I dont know how the proteges oil system is laid out, but in my neon, I had to replace the head gasket because the oil got whipped up and air bubbles built up in the top of the engine and caused the gasket to swell and crack.

You are right, finally someone looking at the simple things. Why keep the oil capacity the same for the turbo vehicle. Mazdaspeed=Mazdaweed, because that was what they were smoking. After the oil comes from the block it goes straight to the turbo and drops to the sump to be picked up again for the block. The cooling isn't sufficient (for me) on this vehilce.

Mid 90's neons were known to have head gasket problems. Was the the reason they said it went bad, because that sounds like total BS.
And in the back, under specifications, you can find the oil capacity.
