The issue of who buys P5s came up in another thread, guys/girls, young/old, so I figured I'd make a post to figure out the ages of P5ers on this forum.
Hi, my name is Doug, I'm 25 and I'm addicted to my P5.

I'm 25 and waiting to get my P5 back from the body shop..... All SUV's should be impounded and set on fire! Or at least there should be a clause put on ownership stating that they can't be driven in the winter. I just hope the new paint matches :)

I'm apparently attracted to cars younger guys drive. :o I just sold my beloved Z28 and my 14 year old daughter is thrilled at the idea she'll get the P5 when she starts driving. Guess that will be about the time I get a Corvette.

well i know that when i bought my P5 i had never seen a commercial for it... i just had seen it in the lot and was like Wayne from Waynes World... "it will be mine... oh yes, it WILL be mine"...

We all have extremely good taste. I also never saw a commercial, I saw a silver P5 on my way to work on I-95 and was like, "whoa, cool".
But we also have to remember that I doubt many of the over 40 women I've seen driving the P5 in my area would be in this forum:)

No, but you have at least 2 guys that are over 40 ... and you could also include my wife when she takes it over during the weekends and I get stuck with our 2000 Passat plus the 2 kids in their car-seats ...
Hi, I'm Joel and my black MP5 is about 2.5 months old.
My 5 year old daughter was hopping I got a VW bug convertible ... but after going for a ride in my MP5, she has fallen in love with it because of the rear view mirror's built-in compass ...

Thanks, bro.
It's a long, sorded story, but here goes: His name was actually Peter John and his brother was John Peter. But when their family immigrated from Germany, the Olympic commitee wanted my grandpa for thier swim-team even though he wasn't even a citizen yet. So the two brothers switched first names so my grandpa could swim in the Olympics. His brother had already become a citizen a couple of months before then.
Anyway, that's the story in case anyone give a rat's ass. :D

Define pups;)
Are you referring to the High Schoolers or college aged group?
Then you'd have to figure out if the people that you see on the board spending the serious $$ are in fact these pups.

Yes to both questions....the high schoolers and the college aged group. I mean, I see these high schoolers driving around here (Dublin, OH) w/their ricers that look like they crashed into Jeg's w/a giant magnet and dragged every piece of aftermarket crap out of there that stuck, and I know that they couldn't possibly be paying for it all themselves. I'm just curious about what the "non-spoon fed" crowd is doing. And hey, if mommy and daddy are paying for it, more power to you!

Yeah, I don't know about that. I was never really into cars/modding back in HS and college so I don't know how these kids were funding their hobbies.

I'm 53. I got the P5 to supplement my Miata--to cart around stuff, including bikes. I've had sportscars all my driving life and thus also wanted a car that handled well, was relatively quick, and looked neat. Finally, my 12-year old Miata has been problem-free, so the Mazda name appealed to me.

I had a turbo charged 99 Civic SI.--a rev hard stage 2; Enkie wheels; full suspension; clutch/flywheel and little mods like short shifters, seats, stuff like that. I miss that car!
I most recently had an RSX-S which I started adding bolt-ons to but had to sell because I got my wife pregnant. However, I talked her into the protege 5 as a "family 4-door" --haha, I still win!
All Hondas. But I'm glad to be driving a Mazda. I may never switch back!!:D

Just doubled the representation of the 50+ group. It feels great to be back in a stick. I've wanted a P5 since I first saw one - and when I sat in one (I'm 6-3, 215), I couldn't believe the space in a small car. I won't name the other cars I looked at but they all cost way more than the P5. The way I describe it, it's 90% of the car for half the price.
Now what am I going to do with all the $$$ I saved???
And why are there no smilies with wrinkles??

The P5 is my first new car. I didn't expect my car payment to be so low, or I would of probly got a MSP.
My payment is $288 a month

WOW...I think cars in the States are cheaper than here in Canada
A new P5 with moonroof and automatic runs at $23,500 CAD. Right now they are offering a deal of 0% financing over 48 months. Still I would be paying over $500.00 per month..I chose to lease instead.

Well 17100 converts to 24,000 CAD so maybe your cars are a little more expensive. I pay $980 per year for business insurance which is around $697 US.. Suffice to say that $ 17,100 US is a lot of money for a young person! Even financed! I will stop butting into this thread since I'm so off topic!

How do people young people afford a $16,000 car??? Easy...banks and other financial institutions will finance just about anybody with a pulse...I don't plan on letting my son fall into that payment trap (heck, my first car was a 1978 Plymouth Arrow GT that didn't even run!!)...nothing like starting life in debt...

:wtf: Man, I tell ya...kids have no right to complain then! My dad never volunteered to pay for a car. If I wanted it, I bought it, and kept it up! Now parents are buying teens $15,000 BRAND NEW cars! I had to go to college for 5 years and work in my chosen profession for 11 years before I could buy this car.

Well, the first year after high school I took off to work.. I resigned in April and am now getting ready for school. My sister had it different, though. In November '01, we were shopping for a car for me--my sister would get my 240SX and I'd get the new one. I was eyeballing the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V for a while and when I finally found a fully loaded one at a dealer about two hours north of San Diego, CA, my sister test drove it and nabbed it! My dad put $5,000 down and she's paying the monthly. She turns 22 this December. If I was working, I would have probably gone with a Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon. I'm very grateful for this car; I now have something a lot more convenient to take snowboarding.

Mine was a hand-me-down 83 Chrysler E-Class. (aka, the cheap version of the New Yorker...as if the New Yorker was expensive)
The bottom was completely rusted out and anytime I hydroplaned on the passenger side, water would come squirting up through the hole in the carpet where the seat should have been bolted down...only it wasn't in that spot. If I had a passenger, his/her leg would get drenched. :) That is on top of the rocking back and forth because of the missing bolt.
Anyway, it leaked about a quart of oil between fill-ups and eventually the cam shaft broke...then later I blew the engine. I was driving along then smelled oil...slowly the car went from 70 to 60 to 50 to 30...until I rolled into a rest area in neutral and left it there. That was the end of that car. I figure...if I smelled oil there must have been some in it right? ahh, who cares.

Me too! I remember when I was in my early 20's my mom was going to sell her Champagne Edition Volkswagen Rabbit and I wanted to buy it. She refused to sell it to me because she felt she would have to sell it at a lower price! She's still a terrific mom though. I have had many used MG's but the P5 is my first brand new car.

Well since the thread has changed I will jump on board. My first car was an '81 Celica GT with 119,000 miles on it. It was 1988 and I don't think anyone from my high school had even seen a Toyota before. They were stunned a year later when I got an '83 RX-7 GSL. Everyone Camero and Mustang wanted to race me. It actually had a manual choke and a 4 bbl carb. Man I miss that car.

naaa.. no they don't ... you have to teach them and be patient with them... i have a 5yr old and a 2 yr old.. and leather seats!! having leather makes it so much easier to keep clean.
you just wipe the leather down and it's fine.. with cloth it takes more to keep it clean.. not only that but we all have really bad allergies. that's another reason leather is better.(yellowp5) (yellowp5) ZOOM ZOOM!!!

I've got a 02 p5 in yellow and my wife has an 02 in red. Both are tiptronic with moonroof. Although mine as has personalized plates that say "chefs p5" We are the p5 family and my daughter will be getting one in about a year. Then we will have 3. I guess our last name should be zoom zoom (usa)
