If you're hell bent on one of the two...go mazdaspeed. I had a magnaflow on mine for awhile...not a bad muffler just doesn't sound all that great and kind of detracts from the rear view of the car.

i'd go mazdaspeed but im really biased towards mazdaspeed, lol
costs more and built by mazdaspeed, more bragging rights =D

I have a inside line on Magnaflow exhausts but I still went HKS. I think Magnaflow are heavy, the welds rust easily, and they don't sound good at all(way too quiet!).

I've got a stainless magnaflow. I love the sound - throaty and deep, not too loud and not buzzy. Had a cat back system installed and they eliminated the resonator.

I heard the Mazdaspeed is better. Whats the diff between the MS and the Racing beat?

I had a Bombz Evo N1 installed and was more ricey than I wanted but fit perfectly in the cutout and looks damn good. I went back the next week to have custom piping done and the resonator removed and now it sounds much deeper and don't have to cring everytime I open up. That one week before I got the customer piping done I used to try to hide myself in the seat but now it's not bad at all and can keep my head up.
As far as Borla goes, I have a friend with a 318ti show car and that exhaust sounds like it's coming from an 8 cyl muscle car. I checked their site and found them to expensive for my budget though. not to mention I couldn't find one for our cars.
Definitely read and get opinions before you go doing what I did.
Borla has a full system for our car. Also I am going with a full 3" straight through sportmen XR-1 for the turbo.

I love my MAZDASPEED Muffler...it was easy to install, looks good, and sounds great(a nice low purr). Here's a pic.
