ok so what does "chirping" going from 1st to 2nd do?
How can we do it?
What does it mean when we can chirp it?
is it only 1st and 2nd that can be chirped?
my friend has a Mini Cooper S and everytime he slams on it and shifts into 2nd it makes a loud ass chirping noise...

When you accelerate hard in 1st gear and then shift into 2nd gear at high revs, the tranny engages at high rpms, meaning it will put down all available horsepower to the tires. this will cause the tires to spin slightly or "chirp" as it is trying to grip for traction.

can our MP3s do it?
and also... does it need a car with plenty of power to do it?

Yes the MP3 can do it and no, you don't need much power. You just gotta dump the clutch with the revs high.
Not the best thing for your drivetrain, though. ;)

But my friend's cooper S can chirp without dumping the clutch..... its just a normal shift at high rpms.

so i think we are clear that more power = easier to chirp.
it can be done with less, but you gotta dump the clutch.
agreed? :)
hope your friend didnt have a 5k markup like some of the dealers here did. great car, though too small for my needs. i sat in the back of one, and it sucked.

also...depends on your tires...lower grade tires lose grip easier since they won't hold as much to the road...

it is very possible to catch the tires in 2nd but also very unlikley because of the weak clutch and pressure plate givin to the mp3 it took me some practice before i could do it every time but it is very possible. maybe a new clutch would help mine did i can catch the tires in third. try quicker shifts or dumping the clutch at redline.

350Z can totally lose traction going into 2nd, my friend was pretty much trying to destroy his dads...also, it can chirp when going 60mph, he downshifted to 3rd or 4th and chirped them

I konw what you mean. The tires just seem to spin without making a sound. You can just feel them spinning. I did that a lot today when I was shifting from 1st to second during autox.
