can shifting to fast actually decrease speed?
i noticed that from this certain point i test my car out to a sign i can get up to 70 mph by shifint just a little bit faster then normal but when i slam the gears liek vindiesal my speed gets to like 63-65 mph and ive done this like over 20 times.. :bs:

I have noticed this too. Its like a smooth gain of speed is completely F-D up by slamming gears and the car dies a bit before it continues to gain speed again after a shift

yeah, if you ever read the consumer reports when the 1999 protege came out in the newer and improved body and tuning, they said that the protege loved to be 'ragged' out.
This i think is why you have to spend more time in gear before you shift....ive noticed it in my Mp3, my 2000 Es and the Dx im currently driving around in...
