Well, the wait is over now.

Got my hands on the pumpkin today finally. That colour just bring a big grin/smile to my face every time I see it. But man, it sure does attract attentions. Not soon after, a young punk pulled up drooling over it like he's looking at a very naked Cindy Crawford or something. Guess it's kinda hard to miss a bright toxic orange car. Sweet looking car though I'm not sure about the attentions that it'll get me though.

I must say, it doesn't take me long at all to feel at one with the MSP. My only complaint is that the shiftknob is too low and small. The steering feel is a bit too light for my liking. The steering feels rather odd turning though I'm not quite sure why. Must be the LSD and slippery wet and cold conditions. It's going to be hard to drive like a grandma for the first 1000k.

Can't say much about the handling and power yet of course. But I did dabble a bit and it's pretty poise and stable around fast corners. Power is there even though I wasn't trying at all. Found myself up to 130km/h too easily on the highway. Throttle response is pretty good for downshifting and all given it's a turbocharged. My car got real brakes now! Yikes. Note to self: TAKE IT EASY!

I'm surprised at how the stereo sounds, after some tweakings. It's pretty damn good for a stock unit. That sub is more then deep enough for most music. Being an 8", it's nice and tight. Looks like I'll be selling my Kaption 12"/Fosgate amp.

Stock alarm seems pretty decent and it even came with an instruction manual. Trying to make sense of this feature:
"Starter Interrupt: .....The starter is disabled any time the system is armed. The vehicle also will not start if power is disconnected from the alarm module." My question would be: Can it be hotwired still somehow? And is it enough of an alarm system?

Well, I'm quite happy overall. It feels like I just found quite a bargain for a performance car that has enough of the essential luxuries. We'll have to wait and see how reliable it is now.

Congratulations!
I agree with pretty much everything you said. The way you said everything reminds me of the time i went to drive the car off the lot for the first time. It was such a good memory. Now, that my car is fully broken into it's a different feeling everytime you get behind the wheel. You're no longer nervous as i got butterflies eachtime i went behind the wheel for the first couple of weeks.
I found myself near the 4500rpm range during the break in period a few times. It's hard to keep the revs low, but do try!

You'll love the stereo at first, i really love it and still do. But once you play with all the settings and know how it works, you'll find that the 8" sub isn't enough at times. When you really want to test it, and you turn the volume up over 25 with the bass setting higher then 5, you'll notice a few rattles and the sub being at it's highest capability.

The brakes, well i didn't ever find it too sensitive or never thought they were that great. I never found myself in a situation to really hit the brakes. So i can't say much in this area.

It will take time to get use to the shifter being lower. I already have and i'm enjoying it.

Attention attention!! I remember that. When i had my RH wheels on, and the car was spankin' brand new. Everyone would stare. But now that i've got through winter with salt and slushy all over the side of the car on steelies, you notice that no one cares anymore.
It's only when the car is clean with shiny wheels that you'll turn a LOT of heads.

Anyway, Enjoy your car!
Did you get my PM message?
Are you planning on attending the Meeting of Mazda April 5th meet?

Welcome to the Mazdaspeed family.I just turned over 2600 miles and have loved every rev. The car is definately what I was looking for in a high peformance vehicle for moderate cash.
Rock On !!!

1000k! I think you're all right with taking it up after just 1k, unless you really want to wait that long. (dance)

I dunno if you were serious or not here so I'll leave that one alone.

Anyway, congrats on the purchase. As far as the alarm question goes, it's VERY easy to bypass the alarm so it's not even there. Get a REAL alarm if you're worried (and by real, I mean one >$300.)
