9.0:1 I believe. Same pistons they use in ever other protege.
Cheers,

ahh I figured that since it was such a low psi running. I guess i'm still confused after wondering how my mp3 running at 4.5 psi will beat my brothers eclipse running at like 12 psi. I figured out that its because of compression mines like 9.0:1 and his is like 7.0:1

the mazdaspeed protege has the same exact engine as the run of the mill protege your grandama has the difference is

oil cooler
oil pan
radiator
cooling fans
exhaust system

changes in general

cooling
lubrication
fuel and emissions
clutch
transmission
steering
suspension
brakes
tires and wheels

all together better. and quite well rounded, as I enjoy mine quite a bit

that's why it's called a mazdaspeed protege, you'll have pleanty of time to catch up to that list of factory mods. But it just won't be the same

I thought the tranny was the same as a regular protege??

the clutch is upgraded set load is higher but the surface area is the same as FS protege

one way valve added to master cylinder

same G15M-R as in 02 protege

The differential is different "Super LSD" unlike torsen or clutch-type limited slip

24mm drive axles instead of 22mm

you may need time to get to the list of upgrades that the MSP has but when i did my upgrades I did what was the best out there not just what I could get....Brakes are now Wilwood 4 piston calipers with AWR adapters for them to mount and Brembo slotted and cross drilled rotors, clutch on mine is a nice ACT street/strip Flywheel is a lightened stock unit and mine was only 15lbs to begin with. Suspension wise I've got the AWR swaybars with KYB struts and racing beat springs. yeah the axles are a little bigger but thats about it. I have the CS front end and MS sideskirts......the MSP is nice but I woudl still rather make my own and not buy somethign that someone else has built its like buying a honda with a swap already and saying that you are the shizniddle......a MP3 with a turbo kit will burn the MSP and still looks just as good and not that gay ass orange...no offence to the MSP owners out there I'm just dissapointed in Mazda on this one personally.
