View Full Version : Treating my MAZDASPEED right.......

Today; marks nine weeks with my MAZDASPEED. The weather is finally warming, so ultimate car care begins. I took off half a day today (nice to have 4 weeks vacation a year). To start with, I washed my MAZDASPEED really well, and then dried it with my chamois. I am using Meguiar's 3 step Deep Crystal System. Step 1 is the paint cleaner.

So; this afternoon, I attacked the front of the car with Step 1, removing any residual bugs. Yeah! Their beginning to show up in the mid-south. This stuff is good. It also removes fine swirl marks, etc... So; for today that was about it. Letting in dry well overnight in my garage. My cars are always garaged.

In the morning; I will do the entire car with Step 1. Then; I will follow it with Step 2, which is the Polish. Then of course, comes Step 3; the Carnauba Wax.

For the wheels; I am using Meguiar's Hot Rims 'Cool Care' All Wheel Cleaner. For the tires; I pretty much stick with ArmorAll - same for the interior, dash, etc...

...next week; my wife's Protege ES gets the same treatment

That's the way to keep an exclusive MAZDASPEED right!
How much did you pay for the 3 steps?

Each bottle is about $6.00, I think @ AutoZone. I also bought these applicator sponges at AutoZone to apply it with. For polishing cloths, I found these wonderful (yellow) flannel cloth towels in a bundle of '6', I think, at Wal-Mart for about $5.00 per bundle.

I also use Meguiar's Quick Detailer Mist and Wipe between waxings.

I'm on it Grim! Finishing up with the #1 Cleaner. It's going to be a long day, I think. Yeah; the photo service is acting funny; but the photo I took of the products is there.

I wouldn't use armor all, I heard it drys and possibly cracks. A normal wheel shine should work wonders. I spent 2 hours yesterday detailing and didn't even get to wax. Engine bay, inside, shampoo floor mat, trunk and underneath by spare, scuffed windows, took off rubber marks from drift day, wheel cleaner, and a bunch of other stuff. Next week I'll teflon it.

Tip:

Be VERY careful washing the racing harts!

Not sure if the msp's have a similar finish as the mp3 rh's. But, mine are VERY easy to scratch. Use nothing but the sofest material, and drown it in water. Never use a dry cloth on the rh's. I learned the hardway....luckily, I ended up getting warranty replacements anyhow and have new rims.

I have them posted here (above), but apparently there has been server maintenance all day, so they have only been appearing sporadically.

looks good, I just finished my P5 today started it on friday night. I used Meguiars, my own system. I started with the medallion premium paint cleaner, then used the clay bar(I was skeptical about this, but now i swear by it. You will be surprised the first time you use it! Highly recommended)then i used scratch X to get the small scratches(this works too), then I used show car glaze, then i used medallion premium paint protection, and for the final top coat i used hi-tech yellow wax. When i got finished i couldnt beleive my eyes and how good it felt. I could take my finger and push down as hard as i could without breaking my damn knuckle and rub without any resistance/sqeaking whatsoever:eek:
I love these products, and i debated forever about whether to get this or Zaino and I did alot of searching on the internet and saw alot of peoples own reveiws of the products, comparing the two and the two to all other waxes and 9 times out of 10 people were dissapointed with the cost of the Zaino, and hyped up performance of the product(their opinions, not mine, Ive never used it!) So I decided to get the brand i have heard of and trust. I will post some pics tomorrow, well today, its 430 in the morning, cant sleep! Ok im done.

Meguiar's Hot Rims 'Cool Care' All Wheel Cleaner. After that; the car is washed, then I dry the wheels - then came the Meguiar's 3 Step System.

Don't mean to be cocky but in terms of treating your mazdaspeed right you should think about the fluid in your new car what a perfect time to do the right thing and change the oil, and trans fluid to redline full synthetic, and why not dump a bottle of that water wetter in for good measure, god knows you are going to be whipping the sh!t out of it. isn't that why you bought it?

AGR

Mobil 1 in the engine now; and I will probably add Red Line in the tranny. Whip the shit out of it? No.. I run it hard, but I don't abuse it..
