Now that winter is almost behind us ( we all hope) I was wondering how everyones P5 started on the very cold mornings . Up here in Ontario Canada we have been getting some mornings between - 20 C to - 25 C +.
I am 99.9% sure that I will be buying a P5 in the spring and would like to know what I can expect next winter up here in The Great White North.
Thanks once again,
Dan From Canada (redp5) (canada)

Here in Ottawa, without plugging it in, it takes a little longer to turn over but always started on the first try. But that's pretty normal. I did plug it is a couple of times this winter though.

I've had some -25C or colder days, and no problems starting my P5. As mentioned above, you need to carnk it a bit, but it always starts very consistently. Warms up way faster than other cars I have owned too :)

It's been fine, we have had 7 or 8 mornings below zero (f) and it starts just fine.

Mine is plugged in an hour before engine start in the morning and is plugged in all day at work, so never any problems.
I'm near Montreal, so we also did get very cold temps (down to -40F  )
Also, type of oil does make a difference, I use Mobil 5W30 synthetic. Another thing not to ignore : NEVER let the gas tank level go below half full when very cold temps are expected (water accumulations may freeze the gas line).

i'm going to have to take it in to a shop, because i have problems starting my car, no matter if its cold or not. I have to crank it for a few sec. and after that it might not star so i try again and finally its on.
On top of that when i start it, the rpm run so low that it looks like it wants to shut off, but then it kicks up by itseelf. I have a 2002 MP5 auto.
