Put my 2 10s from the mustang into the mazda and it sounds great and unlike the mustang there is no excessive ratling!! The stang felt like it was gonna rattle to pieces but this car i dont hear anything but bass.....SO NICE. By the way i have 2 newer chrome MTX thunder 6000 10s running off a thunder 8000 series amp. I also have still in the mustang another thunder 8000 series amp for my speakers and MB Quart crossovers on my couch that i will get when i get new MB Quart speakers......GOING TO SOUND NICE.
Some complications........if you want info i will give it to you through email we had to relocate the rear defroster engine module thing when we took out the kenwood rear custom inclosure...if you want details email or instant message me and i will contact my friend at the stereo place to get good instructiosn on what we did. Dude i have had systems in 3 other cars.....a POS 87 Jeep pickup that rittled like none other.....a 95 Cadillac that didnt rattle mainly because the trunk automatically closed so it was only the license plate..... the 01 GT Convertable which rattled the trunk and the spoiler and like the spare tire....im not new to stereo i hear no rattling in my car so its cool i even stood away from the car and didnt hear anything very nice not to have to dyno mat

No adding the 10's was easy, it took time to get the kenwood system out but its just a matter of taking the rear defroster off of the kenwood system and relocating it and just ubolting thats about it. It just took alotta time because we were checking things out and all but otherwise it sounds great....cant wait to get the amp running the speakers and then later on get those MB QUART speakers. That custom enclosure that came factory acts like a rear strut tower brace. Let me know how your hadling is effected after the removal of it.
My plan's were to leave it in and build around it. Im dissapointed with the 8 inch that came in the car. ( It just dont hit the way I like a sub to hit. But that is to be expected, its only an 8 inch sub.) So what im gonna do is build basically a jl audio comp 12 baffleboarded (*saves wieght on a full enclosure, but will need mad poewr to make hit.)
just my $0.02. :D

Ya i felt a slight change but nothing substantial the car feels just as solid the back feels a little moer loose but im gonna take care of that witha rear strut tower eventually, no problem.

You can't hear the license plate rattling from the inside of the car. If it is the license plate, just buy the Dynomat license plate kit.

Ya ive seen that.....i might get that later my plates dont make much noise from the outside either so ill wait a lil while....the car payment is most important haha thats why i can only get the k&n filter instead of the intake right now :( oh well.

Hey orange, where did you relocate the defroster box thingy too?

I've taken my amp/sub rack out MANY times and I've *never* come across a defroster box. The only black box that should be near the rear deck is for the keyless entry system and even then, it's not attached to the Kenwood rack in any way.

Also, I have two JL10W0's in the back running off a Rockford 201 and my trunk rattles like no other. Guess those 24k miles in 7 months are catching up to the car. :D

I've go a lowley 12" punch z running off a fosgate 201s without much rattling .... back to the box....
I'm hoping to splice my Inifinty 10" into the setup... gotta admit though, it's already plenty loud considering how quiet the car rides =) Anyone else tried splitting the rear sub inputs? I'm guessing I'll need some sorta crossover... I'm no genius when it comes stereo installations, but that's what Google is for, right? ;)

I have 1 12in MTX Thunder 9500, and my rear deck rattles like a bitch. I fixed the liscense plate rattle though. The handeling hasn't suffered to much, But I havent driven the car without the new sub in it so I don't throw it into turns as much as I used to.

I have 2 12" Kicker L5's in what used to be my tiny trunk. I applied a single coat of dynamat to the rear hatch in the major areas and the only thing that rattles on the outside of my car when bass is hitting is the rear wing where it meets the glass. I may take that off and split in half and apply a coat of dynamat to it inside...

rear deck as in the cargo cover or the plastic cover that is pinned to the hatch itself?

I dont know about the rest of you, but I put my Audiobahn 12's in the truck for a little before putting my 1500w amp in, and it rattled like no other. I was scared - and rightfully so - to put my 1500w amp in there. I feel like the car is gonna rattle itself to the ground! Ouch!
But the bass is louder, so I guess i can live with it for now!! :D

the plastic cover that has the 4 pegs that hold it to the rear deck, i'm assuming thats the only thing that is fastening it.

If you want to relocate the defroster box (black box) it goes in the 6x9 hole...you will see two holes that is where you mount it...i found that out when pulling the enclosure out and installing my 6x9's.

the rear deck rattles because of the center seat belt... your liscense plate may also rattle... but not half as bad as the rear deck gets after a while :(
