Corksport has a Mazdaspeed radiator cap for sale. I think it looks nice - not trying to goose any more power or anything, just a personal preference. Plus it says Mazdaspeed. :p

However, in the dedscription it says:

"The Mazdaspeed radiator cap is a 1.3 bar pressure cap."

I have no clue what "1.3 bar pressure" is. Can I use this cap on my MSP or no?

Yes, I did a search, but got so many unrelated hits I decided to start another thread.

AGRG#7 ... How's it goin? You still love your Mazdaspeed? (blackpro) (yippy)

(lol) radiator cap? I would much rather have a 'MAZDASPEED' Oil cap. I think that would be much more worth spending on....

Yes, you can use it. "1.3 bar" is the pressure it holds, so it will hold the cooling system at a higher pressure than stock, which raises the boiling point of your coolant.

It supposed to be more functional than decorative (Not making a judgement, that's just the way it is.)

the oilcap is like $70 the radiator cap is $27. I bought the radiator cap first, lol.

somone here said that the radiator's higher pressure causes hose leakage in the future. However, the cap is a dealer option for the sport 20 familia according to mazda.co.jp so it should be fine.

ordered one from corksport last friday =D

also, the reason the green one isn't for sale on corksport is they said some people were having fit problems. so if you ordered a green one watch out!

outside of the US, 1 BAR is a messure of atmospheric pressure. So a 1.3 BAR cap is willing to support 1.3 times atmospheric pressure.

Don't know about the blowout risk. Sorry.

Speaking of which does anyone know in BAR what the intake pressure range is???

The peak boost on the MSP is 6.9 psi which is just below .5 bar.

1 Bar is 14.7psi

Thanks, Linux, that's the thread I was looking for in the first place. lol Very funny thread, too.

Bottom line - I'm not looking for performance, I just like it. Putting it on isn't going to hurt anything, correct? I believe the answer to that is yes.

YAY!

I got the rad cap today, but I can't get the damn thing ON! It sits up a little higher than the stock one (the plunger thingy is wider and doesn't fit into the radiator well like the stock one) and just won't compress enough for me to get it around the stops on the edge of the neck.

Does anyone have any suggestions/comments? Anyone else get one and get it on? This sucks.
