Anyone have a squeak in the engine compartment when the car is coming down from higher RPM's to lower ones. I heard it before but don't know what it is. It sounds like a suspension squeak like a spring but it's definately not because i only hear it at certain times. It usually happens in first gear and second gear, Any Ideas? I'm going to scheldule an appointment with Mazda here soon.

Are you sure it's not the bypass valve? Does it sound like a chipmunk laughing?

it does sound like a chimpmunk laughing. What's the difference between the bypass and blow off valve?? I know what the blow off valve sounds like more like a PSSH. This is more like a loud squeaky noice??

It's weird cuz i definately can distinguish the BOV from other things is just when im comin to a stop or coming up my driveway after a longer drive I hear this loud squeaky noise? I'm brand new to turbo cars so I have no idea what it could be?

are you in neutral when you hear this noise, or is it durring down shifting?
LiLiTaLy

usually downshifting, when i bring it into neutral it stops. Also i hear it when the clutch is engaged.

Its from your shifter bushings. Otherwise its your suspension bushings.

Well I'm taking it to Mazda this Monday. I don't know what it could be, I'm pretty sure it's not the transmission as it sounds like it's coming straight out of the engine compartment.

Go get some silicon lubricant, jack your car up and spray all of the polyurathane bushings.

Ok first off I told yall at the begining that it's not my suspension because it only happens when the clutch engaged and all that, so wouldn't the suspension squeak all the time. And shifter bushings, maybe, but it's not coming from my transmission.

Have you been to the ear doctor lately? Also, are your shoes wet? That could be the squeak too, I had that happen the other day when I was driving.
If you persist it being associated with the clutch, check your slave cylinder rod that pushes on the clutch fork.

It's just hard to trust a guy over the internet who never heard the noice. I asked to see if anyone had the problem or knew of it? I guess not but thanks for the help.

He knows what you are talking about, or what he believes to be the noise.
If you didnt want help or advise , why did you bother to post this. Or waste our time? Over the internet .. pifflE* then AGAIN why did you bother to ask, this is the last time I offer up any advise to you

I said thanks for the help geeze, did i actually do anything to you? You guys helped out a lot and I thank you. I just am going to bring it to Mazda so they can look at it in person. Am i not allowed to do that since yes i do have a 4 year 48000 mile warranty why don't I let them do the job?

I got that squeak yesterday while I was in gear in 1st, but off the gas. Freaked me out too! Like you, I was comming off higher RPM's coz I was giving the car a "little excercise". I checked under the hood and dunno the cause

I was actually surprised to find this out myself, but our cars come with two cats. One is located near the exhaust outlet of the turbo, and the other just before the muffler. Maybe they are making the noise? (scratch)

Well today I listened closely and definately can tell it's like a spinning object cuz u can hear it slow down. Maybe a belt or the turbo, going on MOnday so I'll let you guys know.

LiLiTaLy - yeah, definitely get it checked out.
Spicy-he said it's not a suspension thing...so don't insist that it is. Don't give the guy flak just for bringing it up and not taking turboge's advice.

If it sounds like its spinning then it's not a squeak. That would be friction. It may be your throwout bearing having a problem, or the differential whine that is common. It can also be the sound of the gears themselves whining.

Hey guys, a variation of the whining that started happening recently. while i'm in 3rd, and driving up from about 3000 to 4000 rpms, I hear a whining-like sound which disappears after 4000 rpms. Is this normal?

Could it be this? Not sure if that's what you were describing, but I thought it might be:cool:

Thanks charles for the info. I read the webpage and after a long drive today, I think it's just the spinning of the turbo. The sound kinda reminds me of the tool dentists use to drill teeth with. Well I hope that the sound is comming from the turbo. :D
