Yesterday i went to the dealership to look at the mazdaspeed and i realized that the engine looks like its just thrown in thee.. Is there any point behind the way they layed there engine? It looks to me that any modifications are going to be difficult..

what are you saying just thrown in there? it sits sideways beacause it's a front wheel drive car. after you take the airbox out, it opens up a little.hehe

If you had issues with the car then why did you buy it. Mazda does not underengineer most of their cars protege included the only car i can think of is the cooling system on the FD RX-7's other than that mazda builds some nice cars......
You wanna see something "just thrown in there" look at a neon. CAnt' speak for a srt4, but for the rest of them.....that's exactly what it looks like
I think Mazda did as fine of a job as the Honda's I've had of "throwing" in the engine.
It is remember, a 4cyl. then again most of the Trans ams of the early and late 90's look like crap too. I can remember lifting the hood of a 93 Trans am with an 8 in it and saying....ummm, wow, that's ugly. Nice power though.

WHOA... now im not saying the engine is a bad thing.. I was asking why it was done like it was... I can see why most of it was there.. The engine is great.. except for the strut bar.. I love the car .. but the postioning of the stuff in there is kind of different...

They had to make do with the parts they had from the factory and then they had to make do with the space that was available.
Yeah, it looks a little tangled, but hey, it is a nice fitting package.

Right, I don't think when the Protege was redesigned they thought that where the Mazdaspeed parts are going to be. Its not like a freaking aftermarket Super Charger for a C5 where you need a different hood or something.
I think the whole setup is kind of nice myself.

Let me guess the strutbar clashes with your nail polish right?
Man this has got to be the most out there complaint I have ever heard.
Peer under the hood of a mid-1990's GM front driver. That my friend will be straight up "Thrown in there."
Mazda's build quality is fucking Michael Angelo compared to a lot of the domestic stuff.
I have removed and replaced a 3.3 liter v6 out of a Grand Am and it is unG*Dly hell compared to the sweet bliss of this car.
OK OK OK I do really really like my MSP.
Out bro no hard feelings just too funny not to comment.

ok... the strut bar looks like shit.. but thats looking comparing it to a nissan sentra se-r one. but i dont mind spending the extra money to get one halfway descent but i love everything else about the car.. but ofcourse its going to need some modifications... Im not Complaining im saying.. Modifications are just somewhat difficult with the engine setup.. (good places for cold air intake tho) but turbo modification.. and other stuff i would liek to add is just going to be more dificult now that i looked at the engine setup But i like how it is made...
any strut i can bend with my hand is not worth having on there to... But thats one flaw out of a masterpiece..
I also looked at the mazda 6 downt here they did good job with that.. but not relaly the type of car im looking for
